The other one goes between the axle and oil deflector on the backside of the axle. That’s the one for oil slinging and it works if you catch it quick enough

Sounds like a lot of work.

Now that I know the ABS Sensor can be popped off easily for inspection of oil down in the hole this is my preferred method for early detection. Seems like the oil really needs to build up in there before seeping out based on my other axle which I detected early leaking. That seal was the second one and lasted about 7-8 years. I’ll check these Sensor Holes every tire rotation.

Don’t have a good picture, but they’re supported. If you zoom in you can barely see them here

I masked around them. I do about a 1 inch border around the emblems and then I just peel the part that is on the paint away from the emblems. I bet there's a few good youtube videos out there.

Swapped out my front Boss coils for 700lb ultimates. My passenger side Boss coil was weeping ever so slightly and I'm beyond picky. Wanted a coil that was rebuild able just in case this happened again.

Anyone want a Boss front coil kit that weeps a drop of oil every now and then?

I would check the wiring from the MAF and see if there is any take-off or splicing or extra harness on there. There are a few kits but I think they all use the MAF.

Finally got around to fixing the broken tailgate latch handle.

    IMG_20201005_100006983.jpg

Easy peasy. Though the picture shows how bad I need to do some scratch repair....
    IMG_20201005_112522940.jpg

Then got started on cap window fix. I use the tractor to pull the cap on and off as appropriate. The tractor's braking system relies on dropping the 3pt implement in a timely fashion. If you are following, you wont be surprised to hear that I smashed the cap window out with the tractor weight bracket...IMG_20201005_091841714.jpg ARE says it's 450 to replace the entire window assembly. I picked up some dark tinted plexi for much less. Today I cut to shape and cleaned the surface up. Will post again when complete.

You guys love stepsides and filthy wheels right?

Removing the paper gasket remnants from inside the brake drum. I didn't realize how well it was hidden under a layer of rust. More wire wheeling work to be done.

    IMG_6347.HEIC.jpg

While trying to figure out why the parking brake was not working right, I ended up shearing the bolt to this bracket. It is supposed to allow the entire bracket to swivel, but it was frozen.

    IMG_6339.HEIC.jpg

Thanks to @Roman, we tracked down the part number for it, along with the bushings.

Something here seems fishy. I’ve read about counterfeit stuff off of Amazon. Any chance someone remembers what kind of box their plugs came in? The black box was a 6 pack and the blue were singles.

I might be the first to say it, but, stepsides don’t look bad with a cap on top! It really cleans up the weirdness of the rear end.

The cap makes them sharp looking. You aren’t the first to say this, as I was the first. You are second, though. :D

I like them without the caps, but the cap really sets them off nicely.

Not sure if that’s imperial jade or not, but that green color is somewhat rare on 4runners, so I’ve always been attracted to anything that color.........lamp post, camping cup; you name it!

Famous Cowl Leaky Grommet Repair: Well just did not want to endure another Season of the
wet carpet, under the blower. Hardest part, is removing the wiper arms, they are just stubborn but
if you work them back and forth gently, they relent and come off.

Many thanks to PHM and everyone else, who, over the years have taken good pics and explained exactly
    what we need to do.

no pics, because we all know by now what this is all about.

Don't forget to apply anti-seize to the post before reinstall. Should save you the rock-a-bye headaches next time.

Ditto. I'm working up a small parts list of preventative stuff. I should've bought these when I bought replacement torx-head screws for the cowl assembly (mine are oddly rusted).

Damnit it just had my wipers off when I installed ditch light brackets. I almost liked how the truck looked with no wipers, but if I left them off, it woulda rained that day.....

Yeah. Don’t forget to grease up those arms/pivots inside the cowl. Gotta go Gorilla Arm Technique on it.

Little known fact, Tucson has no birds due to the hi heat warnings they announce on the radio waves, they hear that and keep on flappin!
