And this is exactly what I did. Although I didn’t do it in five minutes because it was my first time. But I think if you’re not lifting the vehicle or you’re just replacing a lifted coil over set up with another one the same height it can be done without messing with the alignment. I saw a video on it before it was pretty cool. He just had a 2x4 handy to pry down on the LCA

That’s what I thinking. Glad you got it put back together.

Most of the good advice you will get on here is from bad choices in the past (my stupid and costly mistakes).

Nice! I got the same Icon wheels on mine and really like them. What size and brand tires did you go with?

Oh, and the vid ColoradoTJ posted in #29 is the exact same way I did mine. But it took me much longer than 5 minutes. Also, the LCA cam bolts on mine were really tight. I had to use a cheater bar and a steel tube over it to get enough leverage to break them free.

They’re 315/70/17 Cooper Discoverer MTP’s. I had to do the exact same thing with the bolts

How could you tell the axle had slid out of the differential? I'm having an issue w/a lift & I can't figure out the problem. Thanks.

What’s the problem? I couldn’t get my LCA and ball joint to connect to the knuckle when I did mine. I too thought I’d pulled out the CV axle but I wasn’t applying enough force on the UCA to bring it together to thread the lower ball joint bolts.

I can get mine together but I’m running SPC UCA’s. My problem is I got 4.75” of front lift out of an OME 2.5” lift. I’ve checked and double checked everything and it all looks right. All I can think is maybe the axles have come out and are in a bind, preventing the suspension from compressing properly. They spin freely and 4wd works properly.
Btw, I installed the lift the same way he initially did, by removing the ball joint from the UCA because I was replacing the UCA’s.

They don’t feel like they’re in a bind as I can wiggle them up and down but this is my last option as to what is wrong with my scenario.
    DS then PS.

Can’t say I have any answers other than my problem was fixed by ratcheting the UCA to the LCA to get the bolts threaded on the knuckle. I had full articulation of the CV axle too.

Thanks so much!!!! That's the best step-by-step guide for the shock swap I've seen, should be a sticky.

And this video as well, he takes it from start to finish, front and rear shocks:

For those fighting to get the lower ball joint bolts back in something else to consider that may be helpful... I used a pair of spring compressors on each side of the CO to suck in the lower ball joint after jacking up the LCA to the point of lifting the truck. Was super easy to get the bolts back in with just a few turns on each side of the spring compressor

Another option is to use ratchet straps - that was the trick I used - there is a video out there where I saw this. I couldn’t get the LCA bolts to engage the threads otherwise.

Glad I read this thread. I got my lift kit in yesterday and will be installing myself with some help from a more experienced buddy of mine.
