Jackson is STUPID expensive. Buffalo, Gillette, Sheridan, etc. are all really pretty and not as crazy priced. Less tourist flood too. Could always live in the south of Montana or over in Idaho as well. You've got options.

You can't complain on how bad my truck is if you put the detailing off for over a decade. Just sayin'. :p

Bit of a thread jack, how did your truck do up Imogene? I've wanted to go up there for a while, but thought I had read that lockers were necessary.

Lockers were definitely not required. The Ouray side was a bit more challenging but with some proper scouting the more difficult obstacles can be avoided. I took on some of the obstacles and survived with some minor trail damage (7 pin trailer connector mount is no more). Beautiful trail.

We ran Mineral Creek, Engineer, Cinnamon, Ophir, and Imogene. I'm not so sure I'd do Black Bear with the double cab but I've heard it's been done before. Mineral Creek was probably the most difficult of them all but mainly because of the long wheelbase on some rockier switchbacks.

    northern AZ-southern utah adventure

    lake powell overlook

just after this shot, as we got to the highway I saw a car off the embankment and a bewildered young lady with the window down. I flipped a U and backed in close, hooked her up to the hitch shackle and towed her out. She was grateful. Apparently a car slammed on the brakes to make the turn to the scenic overlook and she swerved to avoid rear-ending it and ended up off the side...

Toadstools trail hike (for milky way shots)

hammock between the truck and a tree in White house Canyon
after 40 miles of rough road (Rock House Valley road) and 12 miles of deep sandy trail) lowered tire pressure to 20 and went 4-low,the beast owned it! got to White Pocket AZ

a few shots taken during the adventure:

Went to the Santa Fe national forest with some of my family this weekend. Most of these are on the northern border of the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
