Good evening everyone, just thought I’d show off my new Pig Slayer. I have been running a PSA Franken 7.62x39 for the last three years and it’s been flawless. It’s running a Sightmark Photon, I’ve been looking to upgrade to a thermal scope for a while but didn’t have a extra gun to dedicate to a thermal. Well I was on Texas Gun Trader a few months ago and ran across a rifle I just had to have. Luckily for me the guy needed brakes on his F150 more than he need his rifle.
    Upper and lower: Aero Precision
    Rail: BCM 13”
    Gas block: superlative arms adjustable
    Muzzle brake: Silincerco Trifecta
    Barrel: Wilson Combat 16” 6.5 Grendel 1-8
    BCG/CH: JP, BCM
Stock, Buffer tube, grip, trigger guard are all BCM
    Trigger: Geiseele SSA
    Sling: Blue force gear
Scopes one I had laying around: Weaver Tactical 2.5-10 FFP in a UTG pro mount.
The gun with four mags, 400 rounds Ammo for a grand.
I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet, but will get a chance to sight it in tomorrow, hope it shoots as good as I think it should. It’s going to get a new thermal, at least the Banker says, my Christmas gift. Also I’m waiting on my Omega to get out Jail, hopefully before the end of the year. Since I’ve already got several thousand rounds of 6.5 I couldn’t pass it up.

You will love the 6.5 Grendel. It is my favorite rifle. Killed 2 nice bucks last year with it last year using 123 gr Hornady ELDM. Waiting on a Lila match barrel for my newest build. That should be a good stick for pigs and most medium game. Good parts make good rifles and you named a bunch. Should be a shooter for sure. Keep me posted on your results. I have some Sierra .264 120GR bullets OTW to reload.

There is also a forum 6.5 grendel.com that has a ton of info on the 6.5 G as well. There is a lot of good info there.

Thanks, I’ve got a Howa Mini Action in 6.5g a few years ago and it’s been a Deer/pig/ or anything that needs shot on the ranch kind of gun. It’s only flaw is the dam mags cost so much. I really like the Hornady 120SST and the American Gunner 120 OTM, heck it even shoots Wolf 100 fmj great. I was lucky and picked up a 1000 AG and 500 120SST from midway last winter on sale with free shipping, just bought a 2000 of wolf from SGAmmo before it dries up completely.

Dang man that is awesome! You got the ammo stacked up like cordwood. If you don't reload pick that brass up and send them to me. I seriously thought about getting the Howa Mini Action but It was more expensive (stock, Mags, ect). Plus the AR platform makes for great follow up shots if needed. Over the last few months Academy has been out of 556 and 7.62x39 but they had 6.5 SST in stock @$25/box expensive but effective. Now I need figure out what recipe to use with the .264 - 120GR Sierra Pro Hunters and I will be good to go. Enjoy you new rifle!

I have decided to go with the Larue Tranquilo for my can. I will start the paperwork this week. Hopefully I will have it by next deer season.

Got a chance to ring it out this weekend. Sighted in at 50 took it to 100 them pushed it to 450, that’s is far as I’ve got steel now. It shoots Fantastic!! .75” at 100 off bipod with Honardy SST and 1.5” with wolf...
    It’s definitely a keeper!!!

Very nice! I shot the SST’s for a year or two then switched to the Wilson Combat Triple Shock loads in my 6.8. I shoot .5” at 100 and they punch through pigs and leave em dead, but they don’t I don’t get the knock down like the SST’s. That’s a great bullet.

When will you get to test it on some real 4 legged targets?

I hope to get a chance to test it out this weekend on a piggeee or two. Dam cows knocked over my pig feeder so had to fix it up and re-anchor it.

Well I got a new thermal scope ordered today. I decided I don't need a super high-end scope for my hunting. I'd say 90% of my shots are under 100 yards. So I went with a ATN Thor LT 320 3×6. I got it for a steal at it directly from ATN for$1650, that includes a QD mount, thermal targets and overnight shipping.
I'll post next week after I get a chance to use ot this week.

You will love the thermal! I have an Armasight and it’s a game changer.
I was out this past weekend and had two Sounders walk right past our camp. We heard movement on the hill side behind camp and quickly spotted them through the thermal.

Between the suppressor and no light source, they don’t really know where to run.

I had a Flir PTS233 for several years and like you said it’s a Game changer. it started having issues, I sold it the day after Flir closed their OTS side down and stopped public sales. I went back to my Digital NV but have been Craving a thermal for some month. I wanted a Bearing Optics Hogster R or Super Hogster but I blew most of my budget buying ammo!!!

Thanks, I got the thermal in yesterday afternoon and headed to the ranch right after it was delivered. I didn't have time to mount it so I used is a hand held spotting scope. All I can say is DAM THIS THING ROCKS!!!!! I had a Flir pts233 and it was a good entry level thermal but this ATN blows it out of the water! I'm a simple guy I don't need video recording or ten different color pallets I just need a Clear scope that'll see at least 250 yards.
Well I went out last night sat at a feeder that only runs at night and got two boars. Only one picture today.

I’ve never bought anything from Texas Gun Trader. Pretty legit I guess? Prices look hit or miss. I live in Katy and I’m always in the market for a gun.

Over the years I bought and sold a few on txguntrader. I always look to see when the seller or buyers joined, also check the ip address locater. Lots of scammers on there lately. Also I always meet in Very public places and pack my own iron, just in case. Luckily I've only had one issue, I got a really bad feeling I was being set up so I drove on.

My buddy from childhood, Jesse Griffiths, is an avid hunter and damn good chef in Austin He’s putting out his second cookbook this spring “The Hog Book” so y’all should check it out. He’s doing a kickstarter for self publishing. It’s already hit it’s goal.

    www.thehogbook.com

FYI, his first cookbook was pretty damn good too. It was a James Beard finalist. “Afield” is the name.
