    Hello everyone !

I have a 15 Toyota Tundra SR5 Crewmax 4x4 with some mods . I am interested in generating some response to MPG and fuel economy, etc. I was getting around 8.5mpg at first but I thru on a new filter, had cam seal replaced, fuel injector cleaning, new cabin filter and I am up to about 10.3-10.8. Is this normal for the mods or should I be getting more ? 35s and a 6 inch bilstein shocks/lift, Voltant cold air intake. Not too sure about the engine mods but def a 5.7 V8. Any information or input would be greatly appreciated!

Hand calculate your mpg. I highly doubt you computer is accurate with 35s.

With a full tank I can go about 250 miles.

Odometer miles or actual road miles?

Road miles. I always reset my trip after every fill up. The mileage to and from work and everything else I do is always the same so the distance calculated and the gallons I put in are always the same . I do live in the Texas heat unfortunately, so I’m assuming the AC usage is a factor and driving styles take a toll

So you’ve calculated the odometer correction for your larger tires?

With a 6” lift and 35s I don’t think mpg should be your main concern other than enjoying your truck. Depends on your driving habits too. My truck is leveled on 33s I tossed a bully dog tuner on and my average is 15.5. I do drive about a 75 mile round trip per day mostly freeway though

I’m not sure how to calculate the correction - I know larger tires and what not usually drag down your MPG but 10.5 seemed low even for a tundra .

I will have to take the old lady out for a cruise because I sure as shit don’t know what the previous owner had on for tires. One would assume a 20” .

    Alot of them
To start with, get rid of that Volant filter. Total crap! The filter will not stay mounted onto the tube...it will come off repeatedly. I had one and lost alot of low end torque and 65 miles per tank!

I’ve read that about them but I guess I’ve been lucky so far. I’ve checked it multiple times in lieu of these reviews since I’ve installed it and never had a problem .

10-11mpg was normal for me on 2018 crewmax 6inch lift 35x12.50x20 tires.
Regear to 4.88 and mpg went to 13-15 mpg

None of these mods are going to help with mpg.
Your issue is 2 things, tires and wind drag. Regear to account for the tires. However being taller will always have more wind drag, thats the cost to play

Yeah I knew the lift and tires would make me lose some mileage but wasn’t sure how much was TOO much loss! I really appreciate all the responses and what not thank you. I am always open to suggestions and input so don’t be afraid to keep going

I get 12.5 with a 3" life and 34's, so your MPG's aren't too far off from what I would expect.

I finally got up to 11.5 after everything and it’s stayed that way thru 4 full tanks so I’ll take

I average about 16.4 mpg's. 1.5" lift with 5100's and 33" E rated tires. S&B intake that is just for looks, it does the same thing as the factory air box. Its all how you drive these things. When I first bought it the reason the previous owners got rid of it was their fuel mileage, it was around 10.3 on the DIC and my buddy who was the dealer gave me the scoop on the trade in. They must have been ragging the shit outta it. I drive like I own it and it lives a much better life now.

Agree with it being all in how you drive primarily, and of course mods secondarily. My truck bone stock will get around 16MPG driving it around town (mix of hilly driving, stop and go, etc.). On the interstate @ 70MPH, I've gotten anywhere from 17-18.5MPG (depending on where I'm driving, of course).
