Had a great 4 day camping trip meeting family at Mama Gerties in Asheville NC. This was the longest pull of our large pop up so far. The Tundra did a great job and even managed 15MPG average on the trip pulling great in the mountains.

The days were warm in the afternoon- sunny and 70s, nights were pretty chilly, high 30s and low 40s. Great weather overall and nights were perfect for a campfire.

Asheville was fun but has become pretty commercial. We did visit some other small towns close by and enjoyed those more. Was a fun trip!

Looks like a great trip! We are actually headed that way next week. Mind mentioning some of the other "small town" highlights? We will be heading into Asheville for a few breweries but would rather spend the time on forest roads. Cheers!

Mills river for Sierra Nevada their beer cheese is a must. Brevard for waterfalls, great sushi restaurant in the Walmart parking lot. The Square Root restaurant downtown with old time cork floors, also have a beer at The Hub. Oscar blues brewery is pretty cool, love their chuck wagon burgers after a DuPont or Pisgah ride. Black Mountain (Pisgah Brewing) Highlands, Hendersonville, and Old Fort have special spots in my heart. It’s an amazing area all around really can’t go wrong. Moe’s original is right off I-26 north of town, they have great BBQ. Best view is Maxx Patch, also an easy hike. That’s nearby hot springs which is a small town I’ve heard good things about. Downtown Asheville has good nightlife and the sweet potato pancakes at Tupelo Honey are something special. Flat rock has an awesome cafe, brunch place, and BBQ place, and the Carl Sandburg home. The area is exploding with tourism these days so be prepared for crowds especially during leaf season.

Tons of breweries. Asheville has lots of food, alcohol and shopping. It gets busy, street parking and parking lots/decks too. Some fun people watching opportunities. Lots of cool trails for hiking in the area or close. Blue Ridge parkway and views are right there. Parks, lakes and rivers in the area as well as some trout streams.

One of the other smaller towns we really liked was Black Mountain. It reminds me of Asheville when it wasn't so busy and commercial.

It is a fun area with some beautiful scenery.

Definitely want to spend a few hours on the Blue Ridge Parkway, my wife and I have been on this at least five times, we actually took the whole 460 mile trip one year and took the skyline drive through the Shenandoah national forest which is just north of the Parkway, speed limit is 45 mph and no stop signs. well worth the drive

I'm fortunate to live only about an hour away from that area and love it. It is a mecca for two of my favorite activities; spirited mountain driving and brewery touring (breweries after the driving of course)

BRP is a great road, especially at off times if you want to blast through it with a car.
However, sections of it have been closed the last couple times I've tried to get on it, so check that first. Not sure what the issue is.

    Looks like a good time!

If you like motorcycles it is well worth the trip to Maggy Vally, but only open certain days of week.
