Just bought a box of Barnes Vor-TX 80 grain.

sotex, those rounds are loaded with the Barnes TTSX, a tipped monometal bullet with a good reputation for penetration and bone-breaking. Monometal bullets are generally lighter than lead-cored, but they run faster and are said to perform as well or better.

I've got a couple of boxes of that same ammo, but haven't had an opportunity to use them on game. Accurate in my Ruger 77.

Cant tell iif I caught the damn virus or starting buck fever but either way I'm enjoying all of the responses.

Seriously though I've been out there enough where I'd rather watch them walk away than take a bad shot. Not that I dont still get excited, but I also learned regrets last longer...

Keep em coming. I really do appreciate all the different views.

Hunting midwest WhiteTails would spit that 80 grain back at you , it would probably explode when it hits the hide. Just kidding ,but is way too small for whitetail in my book. Nothing less tan 150 grain up here , 200lbs plus deer, even does average 150 plus.

I'll split the difference and get a 30-378 Weatherby.
