I’m coming up on 3 years, about 45k miles. They haven’t been around so long you will see mega miles. My Icons got about 80k miles before the seals started to leak and I had to send them back for 800 bucks in work. I’d expect well over 100k of life if not off-roading heavily.

Awesome to hear. I bought a set used from a member on here with 24k and just wanted to know what to expect. It sounds like I will get my monies worth :)

They actually are rebuildable, the bilstein po way, CA location does them. 6112 and 5160’s. Probably takes quite a while though. I kept my stock shocks around just in case, figured I’d throw a spacer lift on for alignment purposes if I ever do have to send them in for a rebuild. Mine are on highest setting w stock uca’s and no issues aligning.

    Awesome info.
Was thinking to do the same 5100 with Eibach that i had on my 2nd Gen, no complaints on comfort drivability, but seem these assembled 6112 are worth more research

My 6112's wore out around 30k. Nice ride, just expected them to last longer.

Maybe 10 miles a year on forest roads to go fishing. For whatever reason, they just didn't hold up.

That is not normal at all. I would buy with confidence if the price is right. The “norm” would be more in the 80-100+ range. I’m not even sure what wore out means? We’re they leaking or did this guy just think they didn’t ride as well?
Either way, they are an excellent shock that should last years.

That doesn't sound right at all. Did performance degrade and/or leaking some fluid? According to Bilstein, oil seepage is 'normal', at least in the case of the 5100s I had on the rear of my truck.

I bought them when they first came out. Ran them for a little less than 30K before one of them blew a seal. No warranty at that point.

Was really happy with their road performance and the increased stability. Like any product, stuff happens. I had an Icon seal blow out at 12k and they covered it. As with many products, your YMMV.

Thanks for explanation. They didn’t wear out then, one had a failure which can happen with any shock. It’s unfortunate there was no warranty there for you though.

5160s are not adjustable. You will need to install something else to lift rear- shackle, AAL, Leaf kit, block...

Thought I would post up info for those of us that have the 6112/5160 set up. I have my 6112's at top setting in front. About 1/4" higher in front than rear but not a real visual issue. I just purchased Cooper AT3 xlt all terrains, 295 70R 18. Love the tire and size. Had to remove the front mud flaps, and the install shop is trimming my factory skid plate as the tires hit it on the inside during full turn backup. Just info for those of us who are on the fence or just looking for more info like I was.

Looks great ... can't even tell it's a tad higher in front. The bigger tires fill up the wells nicely - great choice.
