Thinking about putting new plugs in. Also a K&N air filter. Will these things improve my gas mileage a bit or not at all. The plugs I definitely need as I'm at 131k. The filter, not really sure about. Thank you in advance.

Should be good for 0.000012 mpg.

Plugs, yes. I'm not a fan of oiled filters and potential fouling of the MAF sensor, but that's just me.

New plugs, clean throttle body and MAF plus a fresh OEM filter is probably all you need.

If I drive 50 miles on Monday but then no miles Tuesday through Friday I noticed my MPGs go up.

I was corrected on that. If you drive 0 miles and use 0 gallons Tuesday through Friday, you have no friends and cookie monster is sad. Ask Siri to verify.

Here’s a test on air filters since the OP is considering a K&N. Yes it’s not totally scientific, but I do really like watching his videos and makes some valid points

Anyone who complains about fuel economy shouldn't be allowed to make fun of the way the Ridgeline looks.

I have this discussion with a friend of mine on the GM Trucks forum regularly. They keep making the trucks taller and wider with a larger grille then have to do crazier and crazier things just to maintain the same fuel economy. I'd be interested to see what a mid 90s pickup could do with an 8 or 10 speed transmission, aluminum body panels, cylinder deactivation, start/stop, etc.

If there are any "gains", all you'll be doing is restoring performance. If any filter gave you improved MPGs, many people would be using it. But "more air" generally means less filtering, so there's a trade off. The OEM filter is optimized for both...aftermarket is a roll of the dice.
