Hey Gang. Putting in the 3.5” RC Lift in my 08 Tundra Double Cab. Want to replace front struts at the same time. Stupid question but would you recommend using the RC Front Struts? They mention that they don’t work with strut spacers but the lift kit comes with strut spacers. Is this as simple as just not using the spacers? Sorry this is all above my pay grade.

I think that kit is either the struts or the spacers, you will pick one or the other. I've heard those new struts are pretty nice.

Can you post a picture of the RC front struts that you are referring to?

No, it's not that simple because the length will be different..

IMG_4129.jpg IMG_4129.jpg ok, yes you can use just the RC front struts. Although I believe the RC front struts are 3 inches..The kit is advertising 3.5..But you will be fine. And yes I recommend using the RC coilover without the spacer. There is a difference in the ride comfort. Hope that helps.
Here is the 6 inch version that I used to replace the spacers. It works like a champ.

I believe when you pick that kit, you select the front option you want. Just wanted to make sure you don’t order too much.

Yeah I wish I had planned to replace the front struts when I ordered the lift. I would’ve saved around $20 order the new fronts as part of the kit.

I have these on my lift... We've been selling, installing and running them on our trucks since they've been released. Haven't had one complaint yet.

Question for those running these coilovers. I know its not recommended to use the spacers in conjunction with these. My question is could you run a 3.5" maxtrac or QSA spindle to achieve 6 inches of lift with these coilovers? I have a 2WD and do not want to pay half my life to buy one of the 1500 dollar kits that has parts I do not need to put on my truck. So looking and trying to think of alternatives to go higher on a budget.

NO. These Rough Country coilovers are NOT designed to provide lift of any sort. They are merely designed to replace OEM coilover/lift spacer assemblies on 6" lift kits. The spacers that come with 6" spindle/block lift kits are only there to fill the gap above the OEM coilover after the kit is installed. It's the 6" lift kit spindles that provide the lift in the front of the vehicle, NOT the coilovers and gap spacers. That being said, the Rough Country 6" coilovers do give a MUCH better ride, then an OEM coilover/spacer assembly. I have them installed on my rig with the PRO COMP 6" lift.

The RC 6" coilovers are not designed for 2WD application so those are not usable, that's why i was asking if you could use the 35" coilovers and a 3.5' spindle to make a 6' kit.

Interesting. I'm used to the Tundra little brother. I clearly have a lot to learn about lifting full sized trucks. I would have thought that the struts would be included in the kit. Regardless, getting a strut/coil combo that is designed for that lift is going to be much better than a standard shock with a spacer.

I cannot, for any reason, understand why they cannot be used on a 2WD with a 6" spindle/block lift. Could you explain?

Yeah....no front axles or diff angles to contend with. Less stuff in the way and/or to consider. Seems anything for a 4x4 should work on a 2wd...

The 6" strut only works with a 6" bracket lift.

A 2wd spindle works by moving the mounting point for the 2wd wheel hub farther down on the spindle to achieve the lift. The suspension itself is unchanged from factory.

    For the 2wd, either get a 6" bracket lift or a 3" spindle and 3" spacer/shock.

Finally got the lift and struts put in with the BMC. New Wheels tires and Nerf Bars. When I pulled up and saw the truck I didn’t even recognize it. It felt like Christmas morning. Snapped a couple photos before I had to leave. Got home after the sun was down so I couldn’t snap any more yet
