How do I update the maps without paying a fortune. Unfortunately my 2016 radio insert is a replacement that is dated 2014. So I dont know if that makes it even more out of date. These radios suck anyway! worst sounding ever

OK, so I see several on Ebay. There is alot of people talking about a DVD or an SD card. And all the fakes ones out there. Can they be used again and again? So someone could have bought one, used it on for their update, and now is selling it???

Same year and head unit. You hit the nail on the head performance wise. I'd consider a replacement rather than fall down the rabbit hole of updating a unit you don't like and have a high chance of replacing. Just my. 02.

I bought an updated micro for my 14 head unit, iirc it was a 2018 map update. I personally had no issues buying one off ebay.

And no, copy paste on the files onto another micro will not work. Cards are formatted, protected via some sort of p12 encryption that I wasnt able to figure out.

I already replaced it once. I have a 2016 and my crazy boys were beating the crap out of each other over the front seat and shattered the screen. SOOOO, rather than pay $1000 to have it fixed, I bought one from a guy on here from his 2014 for $300 and put it in myself. I would not be surprised if the little jerks dont break it again. I am not spending any more money to upgrade. However, I would like to have my GPS updated.
