Hey guys. I new to this and need some help. I have a 2019 tundra SR5 4.6L crew cab. I’m try to figure out what I exactly need to hook up a brake controller. To the right of my steering column I have 3 wire harnesses under the dash can I use those to hook up a brake controller. Can someone tell me what I need please? I’m trying to purchase a camper but I need to get this first. Toyota was no help at all.

Didn't it come with a Brake Controller factory installed?

Thanks guys. @ old man blue no it didn’t. So apparently the 5.7 L comes with it factory installed but the 4.6L doesn’t. These are the wire harnesses I have under the dash to the right of the steering column.

Thanks for the video. It was helpful I don’t think I have the wire I need to hook up the brake control. None of the extra wire harnesses I have look like they match.

None of those harness connectors near the steering column are what you want. Thread below should get you as close to plug-n-play wiring as possible for aftermarket controller on 2018+. You have to run several wires (2 or 3?) across to an empty harness connector on the passenger side. Ground and brake sense connections can be made near the steering column. You can use the supplied Tekonsha harness or one of their universal harnesses, but you'll have to extend the wires (strip/solder/tape or heat shrink) going to the passenger side...none are long enough to reach.

Or go get a Klein tools wire stretcher

That's what we send rookie engineers to find on their first trip inside a plant or refinery.

That’s funny Kelly. I’m in construction and we would tell the new guys to go get the board stretcher if they cut sometime too short.

In my rookie days, they sent you for a stryofoam coffee cup of trichloroethylene solvent, but I didn't bite on it. :D

One time I went onsite and was asked by one of the techs to hand him the bucket of amps right behind me. I just told him amps can't be stored in a bucket. They have to be squeezed out of a tube! He and I got along great after that.
