Hi, quick question. I bought my tundra used and I’m pretty sure it has a pedal commander or similar product installed. I’m taking it into the local Toyota dealership to be reset back to factory settings but they were not sure they could do it and said if it locked up I would have to pay for a new computer. Anyone have any information on this?

    thanks.

A pedal commander just plugs in to the wires at the foot pedal. You can unplug it in 5 min. It doesn’t reprogram anything. Why do you think your computer was reprogrammed?

@timsp8 is correct. A pedal commander does not reprogram anything.

2nd gen Tundras (and Sequoias of the same vintage) have a notoriously sensitive gas pedal.

Huge difference in pedal sensitivity between my 2nd gen sequoia and 3nd gen tundra, my 2nd gen sequoia(2012) is very sensitive

I installed a Pedal Commander to desensitize the accelerator. Maybe the previous owner did as well. As mentioned it will not affect your computer.

Ok this kinda makes sense now. I feel like the slightest touch of the pedal gives a huge response in acceleration. I am constantly spinning the tires at stop lights or when pulling out into traffic when I don’t mean to. So maybe it’s just set that way from the factory? I had a tuner on my last truck (chevy) and I could boost throttle response with the tuner so I just thought it had to be done through the obd port. Thats all. I have 8 miles of dirt road into my house and every bump causes me to really have to concentrate to keep from breaking the rear end loose. Thanks guys!

Ours was break neck jerky as well. I have since replaced my accelerator pedal with the newer version that is more refined during acceleration. $40 part and 5 minutes install is well worth it.

Yes it's plug and play. I had a sawed off floor mat campaign pedal that was very jerky in my 07. New pedal assembly made it much better.

Yes sir. 2 10mm nuts and one harness disconnect/reconnect.
Hardest part probably getting down on your knees and reaching in. May need some extra lighting.

Done! Paid $42 for the new pedal assembly, took all of 3 minutes to install and it’s way better. Thanks for the help.

    Glad to hear

FYI. I sold the old one on here as a "turbo" pedal. LOL. Some of the newer models get complaints for being not peppy enough, go figure. :notsure:
