I have it mixed at 3:1 and 5:1.....I've no need for a dedicated tire cleaner any more, and only the worst rims get Sonax wheel cleaner. These two dilutions handle everything. I've never used it on the interior.....I use P&S interior cleaner or Griots interior cleaner. OPC is awesome

Big fan of power clean. I use it regularly on fender wells under the hood and underbody. I don’t use it in the interior I prefer CarPro inside and griots for that.

What's a good tire shine that lasts several washes? I don't want glossy, just a matte, black look.

Going to clay my truck and wondering if anyone has used ONR at the 2oz/gal rate with a fine clay mitt or is a dedicated lube better?

The several washes is the tough part. I use and love tire express gyeon. But it won’t last several washes. They still look good after a wash but not like after I first apply. @Pudge might be able to help with a longer trim solution but it is a pia if not done correctly. I don’t mind shining the tires it’s like the cherry on top of my ice cream.

Not exactly detailing but I’m hoping you detailers can Help me not get killed by my wife. This sticker is on my Samsung washing machine, think it’s ok to wash some marathon seat covers in here? I’m ready to go for it but that’s a pretty direct warning!

Ya, I did read a little about the more long term products, and might not go that route.
I'll look into the tire express stuff.

Griots Black Satin Aerosol.....they call it a coating, its more of a dressing. Starts out a little shiny, but then settles down to a nice dark black. Lasts longer than any of the other dressings I've used

Waxaddict Tyre Feeder if you can get it. It has to be ordered from the UK, and availability is inconsistent, so it’s a bit of a hassle to acquire.
Gyeon Tire Express is easy to get from Amazon or other sites. Doesn’t last as long as Waxaddict, but leaves the finish you're looking for and lasts longer than most products.
The best solution is Optimum Tire Protection and Coating. Doesn’t cost much, and is easy to apply once your tire is clean. That’s the kicker though: your tire has to be VERY clean. Any spots that aren’t completely clean will cause it to flake. If you do get it done right, that stuff lasts a ridiculously long time. I’m talking several months. It also makes them way easier to clean going forward.

Check out @Pudge thread on the product. Good info on longevity with good pics. If you read through the thread, you’ll also see where issues have come up for us.

Thanks for that. I’ll check that out. I changed to Ridge Grappler Tires while back. They have a lot of bumps on the sides, which makes using Tire Express take at least twice as long to apply. I’ve just been using Cover-All to make things easier, but it’s glossier than I like.

Got pro comps on the fj and they have lots of bumps so spray satin is what I use to finish them off. To lazy to get in every groove with the tire express.

I use a combo of Adams wheel and tire cleaner, I can watch the brown run off the rubber, but it’s formulated to not etch rims. Then I use Adams Tire Shine. Not too shiny, lasts me a few weeks. And I’m in Colo, so I’m supporting a local

Thanks everyone! Ya, I'm currently using meguiars endurance gel and hate the tedious application on my falken tires with the side ridges. A spray is something I want to try. Will start with the Griot's black satin and see how it is.

Almost messed up big time. Guess I’m going back to mf towels for wash. I have been using a CarPro wash mitt because I really like how soft it is and the size is perfect but it has a hidden piece of metal in it that (luckily) came out of the cover and scratched my wrist. Thank god it wasn’t the car. Just a friendly public service announcement in case anyone uses these things. 6501E63A-83B9-4DE7-8DE1-844CC5734D45.jpgC8CA2EBF-7800-46B3-BD82-D6FC78E12B49.jpg

:eek: close call! But why the hell is there metal in it? Especially a brand like carpro.

Kinda what is was thinking. Seems very risky to put metal in a mitt especially when your products are marketed to the very high end. Imagine scratching a super car with one.

It is designed as a mitt so the top of the pouch has this metal in it so you can bend around your wrist I guess. I never used it this way. For the record I used it for about 10 washes in the last 4 months. So it shouldn’t be falling apart already. I take care of my stuff and this mitt is only used to wash vehicles that are not that dirty.

I think I will reach out to sky’s the limit tomorrow and discuss it. I don’t need another one but this could have been really bad if it dragged the paint. I couldn’t imagine if it was a clients car. That would suck. I just think a design change is in order.

I'd personally be sending that to Carpro with some constructive criticism. Not in a "Karen" fashion, but just trying to figure why they'd do that. Everyone knows the less amount of metal you have near a painted surface, the better you'll all be.

Exactly I’m not mad about it at all. Just concerned. I don’t flip out on people it just makes you look like an ass. Problems seem to fixed a lot better by being respectful and educated. This situation I don’t want anything just to give them a heads up that the design is flawed imo

ya, I stopped using pearl on the outside plastic because it runs. I still use it inside for the time being. Not sure if I'll get more when I'm out. I don't yet have a plan b when it runs out.

For interiors I like Shine Supply Clean n Shine.

Cerakote is the end all as far as I’m concerned for exterior plastics.

Yeah I have the same issues outside. Switched to trim shield for now but thinking of using cerakote trim on my blacks. I like pearl inside and I don’t fault it for rain messing with it. It’s just something that happens. It will probably happen with most products.
