Had my tires rotated/ balanced last week. I had to inform the techs to place weights on outside edge of Method 17" wheels- after they placed them in the center. When I returned home I noticed the weights on one wheel were placed on the inside edge and weights on other wheel were placed on outside edge. Yesterday I experienced moderated steering wheel shake at 45mph and 60mph- smooth as butter at 70mph. Could the placements of weights have anything to do with the shake? Could it just not be balanced correctly?
    - Im running 295/70r17s at 34psi all around.

Not balanced correctly. If you have a tire with a heavy spot, the tire may not be balanceable, and it will have to be replaced.

Balance precision can be improved by weight placement laterally across the inside wheel width, but generally that amount of imbalance is small enough it's not noticeable. If you're forced to place the weights on the outside (or inside) edge, there can be slight imbalance components that can't be fully corrected.

Thanks. Yea 17's need to have weights on the edge or the caliper will knock them off. Funny thing- I run with trac control off 80% of the time; tested it out today with trac on/all nannies on- and zero shake. Im not worried but will keep an eye on it.
