Nice! I’m starting to learn more about 1911s. What are these Coltwood grips? How does yours shoot?

I haven't shot it yet. It's currently detail stripped to be cleaned of the factory lube. Coltwood (not real wood) grips are the brown bakelite grips that were exclusive to Colt manufactured 1911s. All other manufacturers of the 1911 used similar grips made by Keyes Fibre Company. They have different markings on the reverse and different diameter ribs around the grip screws

Looks like a 3” 1911, not an EMP. And if I had to take a wild guess, I would say it’s not feeding properly.

I believe it is an EMP https://www.springfield-armory.com/1911-series-handguns/1911-emp-handguns/, curious as to what issues it's having also as I've been eyeing one in 9mm. I know I know it's sacrilegious to not have 45, 10mm, or 38 Super but there's a video of Bill Wilson saying he prefers a 3" in 9mm for him sight radius due to his vision and 9mm due to dwell time.

It might be. I thought the EMP had a different style slide. I guess I was wrong lol.

And I would suggest you get anything other than a 1911 if you want to shoot 9mm. I would highly recommend the new Sig P210 Standard if you like single stack. If you want something to carry however, I would look into something else.

It is (9mm). It misfires all the time. Tried 4 different brands of ammo. Last time I went it was like 50%. I was pretty sure it was the gun not the rounds so I ran them through the M&P after and they all fired cleanly. Only had it a few months, wish I never got it.

That sucks. I'd contact Springfield and send it back until they get the problem resolved. I have an EMP but haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet. First of October hopefully.

Great time to get it rid of it you don't want the hassle too.

My 9mm Colt Mark IV Govt model is very finicky. It will run consistently but It has to have the right mags and ammo for it to do it.

My 9 Kimber Custom 2 is being broken in and has maybe a couple malfunctions per 100-150 round session right now but that is known with Kimbers to get better after the first 500 rounds.

They are both strictly range guns run now, only my 45 Cal Mil Spec does HD duty. It is much less picky about mags and ammo. The Kimber *could* become an HD gun one day once it goes several sessions malfunction free using all mags and multiple ammo brands. The Colt, probably never.

Don't get me wrong I love my Glocks and AR15s but the older I get the more I care about wood and steel guns! All my 1911s and S&W revolvers now sport wood grips.

I concur with contacting Springfield and sending it in.
    They have great customer service..

My EMP ran fine, it didn't like reloads and remanufactured ammo (none of my 9mm 1911s did), but new ammo ran right thru it..
There are times I think I shouldn't have sold it, but I just didn't care for single action in a carry pistol..

Sounds like you have oil in the firing pin channel. If you can pull the slide apart, I would check that before I sent it back to Springfield. That being said, the EMP was one of the most returned guns we had at the shop I used to work in. One old guy returned his 3 times. Talk about patience of a saint lol

What brand is that? Looks awesome.

    You mean Huglu lol.

I’ve been looking at the CZ Drake and the Redhead. I just don’t like how dark the wood is on the Redhead. I’ll have to look around on gunbroker for the Supreme. Great looking gun.
