I just got the interior led lights for my 2018 Tundra and noticed I had one more bulb, 4 out of 5 lights I installed.

I just discovered that there is a Footwell light on the drivers side above the emergency brake, but mine is not there.

Does anyone know where it plugs into as so far, I have not been able to find the plug for it. Also, any idea if there is a install kit someplace? Or even a model number?

    Thank you

I did find that, no light in it. So I assume it didn't come in mine. I am hopeful to find where it connects to and if there is a part I need to find. getting to dark to search in the front dash right now.

Ok, thank you. Just looked, so far, no plug found, but will keep looking. Maybe @Roman would be able to know if it can or can't have one :)

Do all models have the light? Or just limited and above? If all models have them, it should be there. I changed mine out and was surprised to see how small of a plug it was. It just barely screws onto the back of the lower dash. When its light outside, stick your head under there and see if you can find the plug. It is possible that its been disconnected or moved.. especially if you've had aftermarket accessories like a security system or remote start installed.

Mine for sure doesn't have it. I searched and search for the empty plug and still have not found it. I have not had anyone else install anything in the dash, except for me.

I'm not sure where the plug would be. Might stop at the Toyota dealership today and see if anyone there knows anything :) I've noticed they have no clue in most cases too haha

I'm almost positive the SR doesn't have that light. Here's an image of the diagram of where it should be.

Thank you @Roman I didn't even find the wire coming down. You might be right for sure, will take one last look.

@Roman I just realized, your picture is the fixed center console, mine is the one that is a seat too, so not the same thing.

Would the harness be the same for both versions?

I just bought that bulb, T5 74 LED white. Not sure why, doesn't do much, just my OCD to replace a blown one, I already have bright footwell lights x 4.

It be great if you have wiring there to tap into, my footwells only light up with the door opening. I have them zip tied underneath, not my pic, same idea/look.

    Pretty cheap mod:

Thank you for the idea. Opened up a panel in front console. Don't find anything, plug or wiring for the footwell lights yet. Next step is to find the right ones or wires to tap into for the mod you mention. I would assume I can do it where the switch is in the panel....maybe

Sorry to revive an old thread but I have been searching for an talk about this light. There is almost non. My situation is a bit odd I think. I have a 2014 sr5. I was under there replacing the bulb with an led and dropped my drill on that tiny little plastic housing that you put the bulb into and kinda smushed it along with the gold prongs inside of it. Ever since then none of my cab light work exept the dash and the bed light. None of my fuses are blown ive replaced all of the $50+ later. I think that housing is messing things up. Any thoughts? Could I just cut it right out or would I mess other stuff up? Or if there is anywhere I can buy that little housing and splice a new one in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your cab light does not work in the DOME position when you open the door, yet turns on when you manually switch it to the ON position, you may have blown something in the mainframe like me. All my fuses are intact (checked more than once). I originally had aftermarket footwell lights tapped into the single bulb footwell wiring and like you damaged the housing wiring somehow. I knew something was wrong when tapping higher in the line didn't light the footwells. And cutting off the housing, there was no current in the bare wires using a multimeter, on initial door opening both cases when it should.

I ended up re-tapping those footwell lights to the bed light wire which is buried in the loom under the left door sill (sorry it's been a long time and can't remember which one). When I open any door now, there are lights front and back under the dash and seats respectively that illuminate everything inside enough that I don't need the cab light to turn on, or I can manually turn the cab light on as I mentioned above with the switch. It's actually too bright when I do that.

I can't find the source, there is someone else with a 2016 3rd gen who had this happen to before me, all fuses he tested were intact, I recall he actually took it in and was told the issue.

So if you think this worked before you smushed the housing then sure cut out the housing but them make sure to reconnect the wires together so that the other lights can still get power.

But if you dont know what I mean or are not sure that you can splice them cleanly take the truck to someone that does and can.

I got it figured out! Whew what a nightmare. Had to disconnect the battery change a fuse and get in that housing with a needle tool and mold it back to shape. All good now

Third vote for the VLEDs kit. I used a kit up front and also extended to the rear of my double cab.

not the cheapest but definitely worth it

How bright are the Lights from VLED? I’m looking for ambient lighting while driving... just enough that we can see what’s on the floor, etc and not blind us while driving. The pics I saw from them were pretty bright... appropriate for getting in and out but not driving.

any other solutions to this problem? I’d really like to provide some light to the flooring and center console at night.

If that’s your goal, save a ton and buy eBay ones for around $10. Cut off the button switch and tap the footwell bulb’s wires. Find spots to zip tie under the console and back of front seats (they come with 3M tape too), hide the front to back wires along center console under the carpet.

The emitted light won’t be too bright, and some models can change color. I actually doubled up on these to get VLED brightness. Unless someone is going under to look at the setup, it’s all hidden anyway.

Btw to have these on all the time, maybe fuse tap them instead to a blank fuse receptor in the footwell cluster, one that turns on when the engine runs.

If you run seat covers in your Tundra like Wet OKoles (which is what I have), keep in mind the Velcro strips on the VLEDs will not stick to your covers like they will to factory seat bottoms. To fix that, I used some black thread to make a small, inconspicuous loop on either side of the Led on my rear VLED lights and then secured them to the seat cover bottoms.

I had blue Vleds in the footwells and I went with this for my center console. Works great.2A0D668B-5F03-4F4B-A8A5-044E7E00CA20.jpg

I did that but in red. Thank you for the idea. I left the USB cover attached to keep the light out of my eyes ... kinda limits its utility but still adds a bit of light to the console.

I did the VLED footwell lights, they work well. I’m was lazy and used the footwell light socket, so sometime I’ll find a convenient wire to tap into that will come on with all the dome lights.

Good to hear that it worked out well for you. I recently added some blue leds for the interior lights now. They work great. I’m looking at how I can tap into the footwell lights for some lights to turn on over the running boards. Afraid to overload that small socket. Any ideas please share

I just used the socket for the original useless footwell bulb. Works just fine.
