Pizza time! New TOYO AT3 275/70/18. They rode smooth and so far seem very quiet. I’ll update as I put miles on.
I can’t believe how much more weight it took to balance out my BFG KO2 vs these and I still never fully eliminated the vibration on them. Right now, the BFG is dead to me and I may go as far as to say they are the most overrated AT out there.
I’m hoping for many solid miles out of the Toyos.

I like to laugh at the display of mpg to tell people I get 10mpg so they gasp and I laugh again. LPG for the win.

What's your definition of peers? Back in the day there were only pizza cutters and we managed to hit the same trails, old mining roads that everyone spends a small fortune on very $$ suspensions now.....yeah the same places folks took horse drawn covered wagons on. Just sayin. Overkill comes to mind. Unless you haul ass out in the desert....of course you need to beef up our Tunny. That's 2% of our members here though, the rest is for show...my 2 cents

Glad you're happy! I've mentioned on a much earlier post here that my tire guy sells a bunch of KO's but said they were his worst to balance. Analogy >>>after Marine boot camp in 1978 I had to wait a month before going on to further training. Myself and another couple jarheads in the same boat had a month to kill. We'd catch a taxi every night to Tijuana to parrrtee!. We didn't have a lot of money so we bought the cheap ass piss house beer. Corona. Piss. I came back to the states from Japan a few years later. Shit.....everyone drinking piss, er, Rona with a lime. Shows you what good marketing can do. Do it good enough....you'll buy piss!

    Congrats!

I've owned several BFG KO sets in the past, they did take a lot of weight to get balanced, but never had any vibration after the fact.

I also always got 60K+ miles out of them (different, lighter vehicle though).

That 275/70/18 is the tire size I think I'll be getting when the time comes, it's equivalent to 33s.

I checked my right front new Toyo and it took exactly 3/4 of an ounce to balance. That’s ridiculous. The same wheel with the BFG KO2 had 9.5 ounces.

Toyo has a 45 day or 500 mile trial period and I have the new Toyo AT III. I swapped from the Cooper AT3 XLT. I’m going to go ahead and go to the Toyo MT in 285/75R18. It’s the perfect size tire for the Tundra and looks amazing. But I can tell people until I’m blue in the face and they go 35x12.5 and then complain about rubbing etc.

I absolutely do like everything about the Toyo AT IIIs. There is nothing wrong with them whatsoever just like the Cooper AT3 XLT. It was awesome as well. The only reason I am moving to the Toyo MT in 285/75R18 is to experiment with them this winter season during some off road trips and hunting spots I get into. I also have a C4 Overland bumper and Warn Evo 12,000 winch I’m installing and I want to really test all these components out together. I only average about 5000 miles a year on my truck due to work obligations (I’m gone a lot) so MPG is the last thing I worry about. I have never owned a true MT and am curious. The Toyo MT gets great reviews from the SDHQ folks and a lot of others out west. I have a few days left on the Toyo 45 day/500 mile trial and I also wanted to test that program out as well and see if it is BS. It isn’t as long as you buy your tires from a Toyo dealer, it is super easy.

Makes sense for your situation. I’ll be interested to see if they give you any trouble. I doubt they will. I agree with you on the size. My 275/70/18 seem a little small and I would love to fill the wheel well a little more but my truck is a daily driver, I have zero rub, the prices are reasonable and I still get decent MPG. I’d love to see those mounted and your thoughts when you get time.

Mounted and done. 285/75R18 Toyo MTs. I will need some time to get you better intel on them but from the shop to the house the TRD exhaust is still louder than they are.
