    Hello guys.

I bought 2020 Tundra SR5 end of July and 2 weeks after I bought I found out it leaks water after car wash inside the cabin at the rear passenger seat.
I took it to the dealership August 20th and the dealership give me a rental car and my truck still there since than awaiting parts according to the dealership. The parts they’re waiting on is 3rd break light - headliner- and seat Cushions.
Today is 30 days since the truck is at the dealership and according to them it won’t be ready anytime soon before the end of this month.
I only had the truck for 19 days and only had 900 mileage on it. I believe this really take way more than it supposed to take and not fair for me with brand new truck.
i would like to know your opinion and advice on this situation and what I can do to replace or return the truck. Not sure what’s are my options.
please note I don’t have any repairs paperwork or orders yet because the truck is still at the dealership so I really can’t file or report any lemon claims with FL state.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome from NY.

Sorry to hear about your issues.
I would go visit the sales & service manager and see what you can get from them. Maybe oil changes, parts that you want, extended warranty or anything else. If things don't go well there then maybe contact Toyota Customer Care and tell them what's going on.
    Good luck.

I already contact Toyota and file a claim but I don’t think it would do any good. Toyota said because it’s brand new truck they have to wait for the parts to arrive. Also I already have the extended warranty and 4 years maintenance free. Thanks

Parts are in short supply currently due to virus. There have been other reports of the brake light leaking, so you aren’t the only one. It sucks that the new truck you are paying for is sitting at the dealer, but at least they gave you a rental car. Other than asking for free maintenance or warranty, there isn’t much else you can do. No lemon law as they are working on it and it’s the first issue.

Does anyone have these? They are Toyota’s got them from the dealer when I first got the truck they are starting to crack on the drivers side. I’m thinking of changing them for power steps. Anyone recommend a brand?

So, you’re basically putting miles on a rental car while yours gets pampered. I love driving rental cars!

It was right under the 3rd break light inside the cabin.

I noticed on my 2020 that there is no gasket or seal in the 3rd brake light cover. Can anyone confirm this with their 2020?

Bought my 2020 last October and did not have any leak. It might be an isolated thing. It's a bummer when you have issues with a brand new vehicle.

Tundra234, Did you get a chance to check? When I installed leds in the 3rd brake light, I notice no gasket or seal in the cover. I assume Toyota revised the cover without the need for gasket or seal. Now hearing a member with a 2020 model with water leaking thru the 3rd brake light is concerning.

Crap... I thought I got rid of leaking 3rd brake light issue when I got rid of my 2010 Ram. Now I feel the need to go check my Tundra since it's been raining all day.

I thought Toyota was supposed to perfect and never any problems? :stirthepot:

Welcome to the OP, hope they get your truck fixed soon so you can enjoy it again!

I looked, and headliner is not wet, so I'll leave well enough alone with it! lol

I do wonder, is DC or CM more prone to this leak? I have CM, and so far so good.

With my Ram, it was out of warranty when it leaked, so I just cleaned everythimg real good and reinforced the leaking gasket on the inside edge with silicone and dried out the headliner. It never drooped, but it didn't get completely saturated when it leaked either.

Anyone with a 2020 tundra wants to check if there is a seal or gasket behind the third brake light cover? When I upgraded the bulbs to leds, I noticed no seal or gasket in the brake light cover.

Go back to the dealer with your rental car and demand a rental/loaner Tundra.

To the OP, one option is file a complaint under the Lemon Law in your state. It'll get you a new truck or at the very least have your truck fixed faster. I filed one and had them (Mercedes) reimburse me for the cost of the car, sales tax and transportation cost.
