Hi all. New member here. Bought a 2014 Tundra 1794 4x4.

I noticed a vinyl cover at the bottom of the center console storage area that was attached with double sided tape. Under that there is a rectangular hole cut out. I can't figure out why the original owner would do this. I've seen the threads on gun safes and wireless chargers, but none of them would necessitate cutting a hole in the console.

Should I be worried about this? Would it cause any adverse effects with rear AC or anything else?

    I'll post some pics shortly.

    Welcome from NY.

    :eek2: :notsure:

Maybe a two way radio was mounted in there and needed that hole for the antenna wire and the bolt for a ground.

I'd check and make sure there are no leftover drugs in there.

Does anyone know what's on the other end of that bolt? This might have been a repair that started with "First, remove the center console..." and quickly became "First, cut a hole in the center console...."

Judging by the holes and scuff marks down the side it looks like they had something mounted in the console that was too tall, so they cut out the bottom to make it fit and close the lid.

This is what I was afraid of!

Seems reasonable. Maybe a weird safe?

As long as the PO didn’t drill too far and puncture an airbag, you should be fine.

Not too bad to work with, I made crossover covers with them, just a knife and heat.
