I've always changed my own oil because I'm a tight ass.

When I purchased my truck, it came with several free oil changes at the dealership. It must have been Take Your Kid To Work Day because they stripped the drain plug.

They're changing the oil pan, but is their anything extra to double check or watch out for besides an oil leak?

I'd visually inspect for any leaks before departure. Also check to ensure they put oil in it. There is another thread on that topic. Then check for leaks upon arrival of your next destination.
