Thanks all for the responses and info. Likely going to run without the sliders for the trip and do some research. Will likely call WKO to see what they recommend in terms of not drilling into the frame or welding. If those two are a must likely to go with RCI. Will update with pics after all is said and done.

With regard to drilling, as I recall when I made my own, there are 2-3 holes on the bottom of the frame that already have threaded nuts inside the frame, however, they are small. 3/8 or smaller. You could use these with the right size bolt to hold the bottom side of a bolt-on slider. The sides of the frame have holes, but they are larger, like 2"x2" squares, so you'll need large backing plates inside the frame (it's open on the inside) to use as large washers. When I made my sliders, I used 1/4" plate steel backing places, like 3" squares, along with washer and lock washer.

Assuming there's only 2-3 holes on the bottom, IMO I do not believe that is enough for a "rock slider". Remember, it's that bottom bolt/mounting tab that holds the weight of your truck when you lay your slider on a rock. I don't think 2-3 3/8" nuts/bolts is even close to being enough. That's why most manufacturers have you drill out 1-2 more holes on the bottom. I actually drilled out ALL the bottom holes, even the OEM ones with welded nuts, specifically so I could fit 1/2" grade 8 hardware. Five on the bottom, and five along the side, for each slider.

If you end up just using the OEM holes on the bottom with the 3/8" bolts, just realize that those bolts could potentially break if you drop your truck/slider onto a rock. that would be bad as it would likely bend your mounting plates attached to the side of the truck, and likely jack up your rocker panel.

Just the thoughts of a weekend welder...

Love the C4 sliders and they’re giving away a 4R right now. It’s actually my buddy’s 4R accessory wise (exterior) but brand new.

C4’s are optional drilling, bolt on otherwise. They have great customer service. 11 weeks is what the lead time says right now.

I just received my RRW weld yourself kit & they came w/no instructions. Has anybody else welded these together? Any tips? Not sure if I'm supposed to attach the frame bracket to the truck, tack it all together then dismount & finish welding? Not sure where to line all the tubes up w/no advised measurements.

I did those also. Here is a response I got from them after welding them up. I still have photos of them getting fitted up. DM me if you need help.

Yeah man, good luck. I found them to be slightly too short so I got some DOM and cold roll and added some length

I need to get some real sliders one of these days. Or just add additional support to the frame on the ones i have.

I paid $590 shipped so hopefully they're worth @ least that! I think all rock sliders are too short. They all leave too big of a gap in front of the rear tires. IDK why manufacturers don't put them closer to the front edge of the rear fenders (I'm assuming that's where you added length).

For those that have the RRW sliders can you please post pics of them when you get installed, thanks. Really liking these but I can’t find one picture of these on a tundra. Not even on there website.

That's because they are not rock sliders...they are steps.
