Is there a replacement part for these annoying shinny things? Or just take them off and plasti dip or rattle can?

I painted mine but AJT makes molded pieces to go over them as well if you wanna go that route.

I removed them, sanded, and coated with rattle can bedliner in black. Seems to be holding up well.

Plastidip for me. The cup holder is a good one to start with as it's the easiest.

Nobody has mentioned AJT designs yet. But they have an excellent product and instal video on how to do both parts.

I just ordered all black stuff from AJT to replace the console chrome.

    https://www.ajtdesign-llc.com/

I cannot believe Toyota would be so damn stupid in this regard.

I had a 2016 Corolla with the exact same issue. I hate to do it... because the chrome parts look great... but the reflection through the windshield from the sun is absolutely blinding. It gets so bad, I've had to throw objects over it already... hat, sweatshirt, whatever is in reach. If nothing is available, I have to hold my hand over it to stop the reflection.
Even the clear plastic shift indicator is to blame.

In my Corolla, I removed the plastic and ran over it with a scotchbrite pad to remove the glossy finish. The brushed finish was much better at absorbing reflection... so I plan to do the same in my Tundra.

I tried plasti dip and didn’t like it. I went with AJT and like that much better. There’s another company that makes a sticker that goes over it. Cant remember who it was now.

What's up with those crews(hex)? Do those parts screw on or just for looks?

Some screw on and are required to hold the part in place.

They're screw on. Check out some YouTube videos. They're not direct swap but better than oem. You can also get different color screws.

We were driving around the other day and the sun hit me right in my eye a few times. I was like why Toyota, why did you do this? I've been leaning towards the Tufskinz carbon fiber overlay as I don't want to drill out the part of the welded plastic. I'm still trying to decide on this.

FWIW, I was not happy with the quality and coverage of Tuffskinz vent covers.

Color was splotch and they didn't cover all the chrome.

Wish someone made a replacement in brushed aluminum (plastic) to match the shifter surround. Not a fan of the AJT "hex screw look," nor do I like the "fake carbon fiber look." Wish it was just a matte silver like the rest of the components.

Im not sure, but they don’t have the rivet look you aren’t a fan of. They might know if you shoot them an email, I’d imagine they’ve been asked before.

I checked out their site, and was shocked they wanted $45 for a 3m film cover for the cup holder ring. Just go by it yourself and use the chrome ring as a stencil and make your own for $10.
