i did a complete jl audio and kenwood hu because i still like the option to play my old dvd/blueray and cd's. lol. and what the OP said about being sent 'everything' he meant it. screws, barrel connectors, everything needed.

if you invest in the system i'd recommend also installing sound deadener. they use sound shield which i did for all four doors and the rear panel.

    Kenwood dnx996xr headunit
    1 JL audio 12w1 sub
    2 JL audio c1 650 components
1 JL audio rd 900/5 amp with sub knob
    2 oem sail panels
    trd sub enclosure
    amp rack

    Hey guys,
I'm bout ready to pull the trigger on one JRT's systems as well. Just awaiting delivery on my 2020 TRD Pro CM. As far as installation, how was it? I'm seriously debating whether i feel comfortable enough ripping out seats, taking off door panels, cutting holes through firewalls, etc. I do have a pretty good skillset and am pretty handy as I've built an old CJ7 from the ground up, so i do know my way around a toolbox, but it's just the, "am i really gonna rip this brand new thing apart right now?" feeling...

And to echo previous posters, yea, James has been awesome with my back and forth emails as busy as I'm sure he is.

Easiest stereo install I have ever done. The firewall is simple because it’s on the passenger side and it’s just a rubber grommet.

The interior panels consider it practice for all the other mods you will do...

The hardest part for me was deciding where and how to mount the rear tweets.

It is a pretty straightforward installation. I had never installed a system before and it took me around 10 hours for everything. Watch youtube videos for door panel removal and make sure you have all your tools ready to go before you start. Harbor Freight sells a trim panel kit and it works great. The rest is covered in his instructions. You can also spread it out over a couple days by installing the speakers in the doors one day and then doing the sub and amp another day. You can also prep things up the night before like putting the sub in the box and wiring up the adapter to the amp.

i could have done it myself but my brother used to own a 12 volt business so he helped me. he was much faster and cleaner. he had me focus on deadener and speaker install while he did the amp and hu but like others have said it's straight forward esp if you've done some car work before. youtube videos are great to help you understand how to remove stuff without jacking up your ride. but also as a former shop owner he had great things to say about the kit so if you're worried, get the kit and consider taking it to a local shop to have them install. good luck. this way you also support local business in the pandemic. they could prob use it. post pics :)

That looks pretty awesome! Any idea what the depth of the box for the sub is? I’ve been looking around the net for days trying to find out if the JL12TW3 PowerWedge box would fit behind my back seat. It’s 7” at the bottom and 4.5” depth at the top. Thanks!

Just an FYI if you have a DC the box has to go under the seat. If you hav CM it can go behind.

This has to be the only reason the CM is better than the DC. I just started down the stereo rabbit hole. Got the truck I've always wanted and it's a pure dream but absolutely lacks in delivering kick drum sound to any fiber of my being. Am I wasting time looking for a sub enclosure to go behind the back seats of a DC? I always have my rear seats up and use the crap out of the trays/underseat storage. I can't imagine losing that to fit a sub.

I'm sure you could find/make one that would fit like a tube with 8"s but it won't deliver the thump of the one 12"

The 12" under the back seat drivers side has enough base to make your balls jingle, yes you loose the space under the seat, but if you do the seat mod you gain some back behind the seat.

As for the "only"reason I would argue that if you want a long bed it's certainly not the only reason.
