Has anyone else been able to confirm that the 13.3 fixes the issue and allows contacts to be synced? TIA

The 13.3 update just popped up on my phone. Cool! I haven’t had any issues since I took it to the Apple store but it’ll be reassuring if this fixes the issue.

I did yesterdays update 13.3 and I can confirm it has initially been working properly. I am cautiously optimistic! I have not spent much time in my truck yet, but it is working fine so far. Fingers crossed!!

I spent about 1.5 hours in the truck without a reboot. Previously it was rebooting every minute or so.

How are peoples results after the most recent update 13.3? My system operates good until I am on a phone call for at least 3 minutes (maybe close to 4)and then the call disconnects. One time it just dropped the call and the other time the system did a damn reboot. So better yes, but mine is definitely not working properly. Frustrating!! I just have to make my calls short and sweet and hope this crap gets corrected in the future. Merry Christmas!!

I was waiting for someone to post this. Mine does the same since the update. Before this it had worked fine since getting an iPhone 10 in Sept.

Now, it will often connect via bluetooth for phone connection but I'm having to connect the audio connection manually??? Also getting stutter on the bluetooth audio occasionally that requires it to be reconnected.

I'm giving up and just looking forward to an aftermarket head unit with maestro. I think I'm going with the Kenwood DMX906S.

Woke up yesterday and for the first time in my 2018 Tundra’s life the head unit was rebooting over and over again. I called my local Toyota dealership and got my truck in this morning for an appointment. After an hour, they updated my software and said I was good to go. As soon I started to pull off, the same thing started happening again. I was Quickly turned around and told the service guy that it wasn’t fixed. After another 15 minutes he and a tech come out to explain that since I have an iPhone 11 Pro that I was simply out of luck until Apple or Toyota make an updated software. I was even more pissed thinking I’m driving a $50k truck and my phone won’t work properly in it. So... I came home and started googling the issue. The first thing I read about and did, mentioned not syncing the contacts. This actually kept the head unit from rebooting and let me use my phone for calls. All good but not a 100%. Kept reading and saw the post above about the Apple Genius. I did exactly what they said and it corrected the problem. Big thanks for the information!!! This forum is the holy grail of Tundra information. Thanks again!!

I’m having a similar issue with the head unit rebooting about every 60 seconds. For me it happens when my iPhone 7 is connected to my truck with Bluetooth. If I turn my Bluetooth off it stops and when I turn it back on it starts up again.

A lot of what I read says they only have an issue when they pair their Apple Watch. I am not wearing an Apple Watch and I have the issue over and over. It’s a nightmare that never ends.

I took my Tundra to the dealership today and they do not have a solution. They told me I would basically have to live with it until Apple sends a bug fix for my phone. They said because a tech paired his android and it didn’t have an issue it’s an Apple IOS issue.

I asked what are we going to do if it’s still an issue in 6 months, and the service rep said they are reporting it to Toyota and I should see a fix.
    We’ll see if that happens!

If anyone has another solution please let me know. Thanks!

    Hey PapaC!

I had the same problem and like you, I was told by the dealership that there was nothing they could do. I jumped on this form and got this information from another person on this post. I did exactly what was posted and it fixed my head unit. I highly recommend you try doing the same thing. This is what was originally pasted...

"Went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and told the guy what was happening. He came out to my truck and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. You must be running 13.1.3. Forst: forget the Tundra from the I phone Bluetooth settings. You must also remove the I Phone from the Tundra radio so there are no phones paired. You must turn the Bluetooth off on the I phone until the last step. Here’s what he did to the phone:

    1. Uninstall Apple Music app.
    2. Reset network settings.
    3. Sign out of your I Tunes account.
    4. Restart the phone.
    5. Sign in to I Tunes account again.
    6. Reinstall the music app.
    7. Open the music app, select songs, then select shuffle and let it begin playing the music on the phone first to be sure it’s working properly.
    8. Pair the phone with the truck again (turn Bluetooth on, go to audio screen and select add)."

I haven’t logged on here in months and came looking for help on this same topic.

My 2015 started having issues a couple of years ago. I took it to the dealership and they updated the software a few times. The weird thing is that after each time I took it in the problem seemed to be fixed for a few weeks/months, but then would start reoccurring again. Eventually the radio started to crash whenever I turned the truck on, went in reverse and then shifted to Drive. At that point Toyota replaced the head unit which again seemed to solve the problem for a few months and then the same thing started happening again over the last few weeks. Whenever I turn the truck on before even moving into gear, the radio will reboot once and then when driving whenever I receive my first call/text the radio will reboot again.

I went to the dealership today to have it checked out again and was given the same answer that they had a new software update to install. Before I left their parking lot I had my wife send me a test text message and the radio crashed again. The dealership was at a loss and said they were going to call some corporate service center on Monday for input.

I see a lot of people trying to link their phones/watches to the issue, but I’ve had a couple of different phones/watches since these problems first started so there is no common thread there for me. The problem also gets worse over time which if it was a pure software issue, I would think the problem would either always occur or never occur under the same circumstances.

Definitely interested to see if anybody has found a longterm fix recently.

Hi, I’m at the dealer now. After months of my whole system rebooting every 39 seconds and reproducing it to the dealer they are replacing the unit. There seems to be a silent recall. They need to update the system first and then they can replace the unti. This has nothing to with the I watch. I don’t have one. This is a random malfunction with the unit. It happens with my iPhoneX but not my sons. If I don’t have my phone connected it seems fine. Demand a replacement. Let me know if you want to k ow if I still have the issue once I’m done here and it’s replaced.

I started having this issue right after my last software update at the dealer. At first, I thought it was my phone IOS but went through several updates with no fix. Then I coupled an Android device with the same result fairly certain the problem is with the head unit. I did find a workaround. Before starting my vehicle, I kiil the phone's bluetooth, wait for the head unit to boot up and then reactivate the phone's bluetooth. Still, very annoying.

    Same problem; 2017 Tundra
It just started 2 weeks ago. Systems crashes and reboots every 40 seconds. Only fix I've found is to shut the phone off completely when I start the vehicle and then once the Toyota head unit boots up, I turn my phone back on..then everything works fine.

    Things I've tried that failed:
    1) un-pairing my phone
    2) turning off blue tooth
    3) airplane mode
    4) forgetting device on both phone and head unit and re-connecting

    Nothing works.

I've not taken to the dealer as I have no faith there.

Did anyone just replace the head unit with aftermarket? If so, what is a comparable aftermarket unit to the OEM?

I replaced my Entune with a Kenwood DMX906s. See post 17 in this thread for a pic with the Schosche dash kit. Looks OEM enough for me.

Mine did this last week so I took it to the dealership and they installed some new update that fixed the issue. Prior to them installing the Software update it would constantly reboot. If i turned off the blue tooth it would work fine but I couldn't listen to Pandora. I hated when toyota pushed the update where they removed the pandora app. Mine is also out of warranty and they did not charge me for the fix...

My HU has been continuous rebooting every minute. I took it to the dealer and they called me to say that it’s a bad stereo, cannot do the software update and the entire unit needs to be replaced. They will check to see if the extended warranty will cover it. That said, I picked up The truck and on the way home I disconnected my phone / Bluetooth so I could use the phone audio to play it separately and SHAZAAM, the unit stopped rebooting and the stereo and Nav. works perfectly without the Bluetooth. I also was able to update the software myself version 010192. So it appears that there’s a conflict between the software update on my iPhone 11 Max Pro, IOS: 13.3.1 version and the JBL unit.

The dealers have two bulletins to correct this issue; one for the Apple devices, and the other for a head unit software update. Both must be done to correct this issue if you have an apple device. If you have an Android device you must update the software.

Did they charge you to tell you this? That is what is happening with me. I would say every few rides it won’t reboot, but it’s a near certainty after an overnight. If I hard reset my phone it usually stops it for that particular trip until I shut the truck off. However I often will not have my contacts paired when the phone turns back on. I’ve done every reset, unpaired, repaired, forgotten, switched charging port to USB port instead of using Bluetooth only and inside console port for charging, deleted entune app.
This happened once maybe 3 months ago and I rebooted and no issues. I think same phone at that time which is an iPhone 8 up to date on iOS.

Within last two weeks has it become miserable status. I’m ready to rip the HU out. So frustrating.

toyota. It was free for me since I had a bumper to bumper warranty but I think it’s usually $60 or so.

    FIXED!!
I don’t know why this works but I have had this issue a few times and this worked each time. (iPhone) First to prove it is your device and not the head unit itself remove your device and pair a different phone to prove the issue stops with a different device. Once this is proven, Delete all saved texts on your device and then pair it back to the truck, the constant resetting will stop. My theory is somewhere in one of your saves text threads there is a photo, or video, or link that is messing up how the unit parses your data, even if you have text notifications shut off it still happens. If you don’t want to delete all of your texts you can take the time to delete one at a time but depending on how many texts you save this could take a while.

I have a 2015 and just recently started to have this issue. Had an Andriod phone first 4 years and didn't have a problem. Then I switched to iphone, but to be fair the issue with the bluetooth connection didn't start until I installed a new map card (3 months ago). It seems like updating the software triggered the connectivity issues. Things are only getting worse, the unit has now started to reboot after the bluetooth connection fails.

Started having the reboot issue with my aftermarket Kenwood unit. Unit is still under warranty but haven’t gotten that far yet. At first I was under impression that it was the iPhone and Apple Watch causing these issues. I’m starting to think it’s the maestro RR causing these issues. Can people with installed an aftermarket unit without a RR say if they’re having reboot issues or not? @AZBoatHauler i believe this would be you. Have you ever had a reboot issue?

There is another thread on here that indicates low voltage from the Maestro RR unit is causing the resets. I get a reset every week or two - it’s random. Supposedly there is an upgraded Maestro RR2 unit that doesn’t seem to have this problem. @glowblue amd @PWMDMD have the same issue and both have the RR unit. If anyone decides to upgrade to a RR2 unit let me know if it resolves this issue.
