Took me awhile to figure out the mounting. I see it is over the bed cover. I am getting my Yakima in about a week. Yours looks very clean and sharp! I don't have a bed cover and don't intent to get one at this point in time

I'm desperate to have them make one for top-mount on a Diamonback HD. I'm not holding my breath though as it's not high-volume. The Thule one won't take roof boxes as the bars are too big. The Yak won't mount on tracks and/or drill mount on the cover. Bah.

Ooh yeah! I’ve been looking at these. Are they easy to take on an off, or is it pretty much a install and leave it thing? I also have the Retrax tonneau.

If you have the retrax with the side tracks, Yakima makes one specifically for it. It’s slide-on, slide-off.

Looks great. I almost pulled the trigger on one of these a few months ago. If anyone is looking at them, Yakima is having a sale right now. The rack and various accessories are all 20% off, even on Amazon.

I got my overhaul HD and am happy with it but one thing I would like to see (since the racks are so easy to store and put in the garage) is a plate that covers up the mounting hardware........you need the special allen and, in two of the mounts, a key to open the latch but once the towers are up a standard allan wrench can remove the brackets from the truck. Seems a plate that fits on the top when the racks are not in use would be a real deterrent to people messing with them. ............

Hey yall, I have the racks in my cart and ready to be ordered. I'm ordering the sidebars as well. The dude at Yakima told me to get the long sidebars for the crewmax short bed. Do any of you guys have those?

Cannot remember where I read it, but the long ones will fit on the crewmax bed, BUT if you are mounting the uprights to the bed rail system you have to get an adapter. It's too long for the factory rail system otherwise.

36F11A99-E475-4A5B-960B-4716FB49CBA0.jpg Best mod for carrying kayaks and RTT. Covered the logo because Yak did not pay me for advertising. Also have the long side bars and installed on top of a Retrax.

I like the clean, no logo look. I don't mind having stuff branded, but that definitely looks sharp. How did you cover it?

I used black anti skid tape. Works perfect and has a lineX texture.

I got the adapter kit to mount the towers to the factory bed rail system. I ended up taking measurements of the gap between the towers from front to back and the short sidebars are the choice. I think the long sidebars would work if you mount the towers in the bed from end to end but because the factory deck rail system doesn't stretch from end to end, the towers are pulled in closer.

Good thing the sidebars are on backorder so even though I had them ordered, I easily switched it haha. I appreciate all you guys for the input

I think they make an extended adapter for use of the long bars on the crewmax rails. I cannot remember where I read that, though.

What length bars are you guys using? About to get a truck cap and want bars on top. Getting factory tracks install. The installer loves the Yakima HD bars. Are the 60” ones a good length? I don’t want much over hang from the truck body. Thanks

    Just beginning
So this is a badasas set up! I like how easily it can be taken down too. Question is how reliable, and watertight is a retrax cover? Does it leak more than the typical cover around the tailgate?

I’ve been having the Retrax for about 8 months. There is no stopping water around tailgate. I back my truck in our driveway and the rear is slightly higher due to the incline of driveway. When we get a good rain, there’s some water in the bed, but not enough to be concerning. The retrax cover itself is water tight. image.jpg

How’s everyone with the Yakima Overhaul liking it? Anyone want to post a review now that you’ve had it awhile? What do you not like about it?

So, I kept putting it off and putting it off, then I saw a deal on Amazon for the Overhaul uprights with the Retrax adapters included for $715...and it was the last one in stock. Jumped on it!
Then, I ran across the 60” HD crossbars (open box) for $182...said the condition was “very good”, nervously, jumped on it...because Amazon’s return policy is pretty good. Got them delivered and the only blemishes were on the box, the bars look brand new!

    Now our dryer just died...;)
