    Once it’s totaled.

Explain to the insurance company that you have a number of aftermarket products you would like to be reimbursed for.
Typically, they will let you go take some items off the truck if the tow lot will allow.

I got it on eBay from an authorized Toyota dealer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/273838996040
The cup in the front cup holder is actually an ashtray from a 2002 Pontiac Vibe that I owned many moons ago. I keep change in it.

Thanks Mike. Yes, I can and will build another one thankfully.
I'm just glad I'm here to talk about it. I'm typically not a real emotional person but I was on the treadmill yesterday morning and started to tear up a bit thanking God for protecting me.

Everyone on this forum has been great and I appreciate all the kindness.

Pay cash for everything, have no debt. It is hard to do but the plan works. (I hate Dave as he won’t let me buy anything! Ha). But We are debt free including the house! Wish I would of started this when I was in my 20’s (I’m mid 50’s) as I would be a multi millionaire now.

He has a few books and does a multi-week class called Financial Peace University. It's worth every penny (it's like $100 or so).

He's best known for his "debt snowball" which focuses more on the emotional aspect of paying down debt (smallest to largest debt in order to get emotional buy in and momentum vs. highest % rate) and "Baby Steps".
    1. Start and build an emergency fund of $1,000
    2. Use the snowball method to pay off all of your debt (except for your house)
    3. Save 3-6 months worth of expenses in an emergency fund
    4. Invest 15% of your income for retirement savings
    5. Save for your children’s college fund
    6. Pay off your mortgage early
    7. Build your wealth and give
Some will say that you can do better with modifications to this (ex. "take advantage of other people's money" w/low interest rates, "pay off debt with higher % rates first"). However, I can say that if you follow 80-90% of what Dave teaches, it will work. Will it be 100% optimized mathematically? No, but personal finance is more emotional than mathematical.

Yup. You have to find a system that works for you. I couldn't follow the Ramsey way because I am so terrible about the to the penny stuff. My bookkeeping is very ballpark, but I build a slush fund that goes to savings or to pay off things with it.

Basically I have an electronic check register on my phone that I treat like my absolute truth for money. Any income I add to it I don't add the full amount, and any expenses I deduct extra. For example, (Easy math numbers, not real ones) if I get a paycheck for $2800 I would only enter $2500 to $2700 of it. If I spend $45 on taking a friend to lunch I will deduct $50-$60. This way over time I build up a slush fund, and once it is a significant difference in my total vs my banks I will roll it into savings or take a bite out of something like the truck payment. It's the only system I've ever found that has worked for me, because I am just terrible about spending what I have access to. This let's me artificially reduce what I have access to.

I am a finance guy and I track stuff down to the penny and when I can, I pay cash for everything. Couldn’t pay for the tundra in cash but got a low enough rate where I am likely not going to contribute to paying it off early. The best I could seek to gain by paying it off early is to get back the amount associated with the interest rate on my loan (let’s say 3% of 45k) where if I put that 45k into the market I have the opportunity to do much better. Obviously different if your loan rate is not advantageous.
On the flip side I understand the psychological aspect of not having a payment.

Congrats...I dream of that every month when my bank sends me a text notification of the payment. I had no payments on my last truck for over a year and it was heaven.

IMO, leave the surrounds black. The fog lights will really stand out then...should look very nice.

I seriously considered keeping the loan (1.84%) for that reason. When most people say, "I can get a higher interest rate investing that money..." I imagine only about 1% actually invest that money. If something crazy happens and I have to sell the truck, it will feel great having that cash just go into my pocket instead of most of it to my lender. Like you said, that's the psychology of it all.

Yep absolutely. Having the low rate is great but you have to take action to make it work for you

20200915_171200.jpg Took the my girl in today to get the oil changed and this was on the dash when i picked her up. They only had two new Tundras on the lot. They had a Pro but it was already sold. So i guess $40,000 for a 2018 isn't bad if I was wanting to trade.
