Almost traded in my 2014 CM 5.7 V8 MGM for a 2021 CM TRD PRO MGM....

Reiterate why that would be stupid.

It's simple... almost paid off my 14. Just need to upgrade suspension to be true mid travel. Buy hood scoop. And spend WAY LESS to embrace my 14.

Figured everyone here would enjoy my stupidity

I am going right along the lines with you. I have an '18 CM that is almost paid off. 33k on the clock, and I was looking at Brand X the other day. Was offered $41k for my truck on trade, of course it still would have needed to be paid off. But I got to thinking, I have upgraded my shocks, tires are next, and I have a "Limited Pro" in my opinion and I am closer to owing nothing on it. Almost had to kick my own azz, but I kept her!!

Tell them you'll buy if they're willing to give you the 2021 for $29k.

Only thing my rig is missing is the TRD pro shocks (plans in motion for upgrades), sunroof (not a big deal), all the 2021 safety shit (some can be annoying), and leather (not a huge fan of leather but it looks sick). Once I upgrade shocks and hood scoop I can join the STAMPLESS trd pro club

It's a really good feeling to have your truck paid off. It sounds like you are still getting plenty of enjoyment out of you 14, so may not be a bad move to stick with the truck you have. I love my TRDPro but I love it even more knowing I own it outright.

Pros to sticking with your truck
    Almost paid off
    Modding to your liking... Almost
    No TSS
    No cam tower leak

    Cons
    Its not a TRDpro
    No cool bed stamp :transformer:

I almost traded in my 09 Warrior on a new 21 Pro. I'm going to wait to see what the redesigned one brings.

Smart move, keep your paid off truck.

Personally, I'd skip the hood scoop too.

Just to avoid the TSS crap is worth keeping it! I’ve passed on several offers to trade my 2019 - too afraid of trading a perfectly good truck tuned to my liking on a truck that could have problems.

2nd on skipping the hood "scoop". I think more of it as a hood ornament since it does not "scoop" anything. But to each his own

There's a lot to be said for sticking with a truck you know is good. My '00 treated me right for 20 years... I haven't even had to vacuum out the interior of my 2020, and the 21's are already on the lot. There is ALWAYS something newer and shinier on the dealers lot.

There are dumber things one could do. I mean, it's not like you were looking to trade for a Ford, GM, or Ram...

At least you were going to stay with the most awesome color ever!

Resized_20201125_103913.jpg ALMOST did it again. Test drove it this time. ** back story**Got use/lose leave so I got bored....

Wasted an hour and I kept mine, dealership was a joke they didn't wanna strike a deal. I love having the upper hand. This was the final straw. I will be keeping my truck. Ordering my suspension as we speak  I am committed for good nowo_O

Positive note they offered 29k for my truck was a huge compliment.

I don't think there is any benefit going from one to the other, especially with how little has changed between those years. Stick with what you have and get rid of the payment asap.

Out of curiosity, was the Pro at MSRP or did they come off at all? Such a tough market for buyers at the moment, so you definitely made the right call.

My paid off 2014, I love having the extra money, just use it for gas and food. Good choice, having no debt makes life better.

The way we are programmed to “buy now and make payments” is crap. Break free from the trap, pay as you go, live debt free. You’re gonna be amazed at how much more money you have and how much less stress you have

I got bored of my 08 after 6 years. So I put on kings and pimped it out and kept it another 4. It’s always the best way to go.

Check the build link in my signature.
For me, the 38 gallon tank is a huge bonus from anything pre-2016, and it’s expensive to add that as a mod (but not impossible). I also really like the convenience of the push button start and touch unlock/lock. So coming from an ‘08 that I hadn’t had to make payments on for more than 8 years, it was worth it it to me. From a ‘14, it would depend heavily on the amount of trade value and what sort of debt it would put me in. I was in a really good place with what I put down on my ‘21 because I’d been squirreling away the equivalent of my previous payments since paying off my ‘08.

I did basically the same thing. Bought my ‘08 in Jan’09 and did a bunch of basic mods to it and then drove the crap out of it. Got a little bored in ‘15 and started eyeballing the new ones. Decided to upgrade and trick out the ‘08 and kept it till October, when I started to get bored again. I ALMOST pulled the trigger on doing more mods this fall, like Sequoia headlights and grill, redoing the seats, new suspension, etc., but ultimately decided that at the cusp of 300k miles it was time to finally upgrade.

You made the right choice. You could even buy the real pro shocks new for less than the trade in. The pro is just a regular tundra with nicer shocks man, you just saved a boat load of money
