Finally had some time to install my Gator Recoil cover this past weekend. Overall I am pretty satisfied with it. The matte finish is perfect. The cost was 850 shipped, so cost wise it was affordable. Opening and closing is pretty smooth. The installation took me about 1 hour, but I could have finished earlier if I didn't experience a minor issue with one of the clamps.

Any leaks? I've been searching for an affordable retractable cover...

None so far. I am planning on adding in some extra weather stripping on the tailgate though, just for good measure.

Update - I've gone through some rainy days and car wash. There is some leaking, but nothing major. The leaking is coming from the tail gate, which I planned to add some extra weather stripping anyway based off what I saw were gaps between the tail gate and the cover. Overall, still pretty pleased with the cover and have gotten a couple of compliments already.

Hey OP, where did you find the cover for that price of $850? I’m interested in the same one and want to see if the site I’m buying from will match the price. I see that you bought it about a year and a half ago so I wouldn’t be surprised if the price increased a bit.
    Thanks so much!

I got it from tonneaucoversworld.com during some holiday sale they had going on. I called them up and asked if they had any additional discounts and they reduced it a bit more from the sale price. It just takes some chatting with them to get a better price.

After two years the cover is holding up pretty well! I’m very happy with it considering it was more on the budget friendly side of the pricing range.

One more question regarding your Gator recoil - Does it rattle, make noise when driving? - I read where one person was complaining of such

I want to clarify - the noise can only be heard with the rear window all the way down and it’s rare for it to squeak, only on bumps.

My dirty deeds exhaust typically drowns out any noise anyway.
