I don't know but one of my goals is, if I'd ever trade it in or sell it, lights could go back to original by simply removing film.

Yea i did try to use a transparent vinyl and it doesnt fully adhere to the sides of the fins. Leaves air bubbles. Tried heat. Just not very good at it i guess.

I still need to tint the tail lights on my 2019. @Areith762 graciously let me borrow his old taillights so i could tint them without rushing (like 2 years ago). I still have yours boxed up and maybe now that i am moved in my new place and it is warming up, i can finally do this.

That is my concern - there are professionals out there that claim that either through technique or better product, the film can be a nearly permanent solution unless you want to take it off. Best wrote so far though is $150 front and $150 back. Pricy...

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
Vivid’s vinyls lay pretty well. A little use of a heat gun and a good squeegee, and you should be fine.
    Here’s a good vid.

I (with the help of my amazing fiancee) ended up masking off the reverse and taillight areas and not tinting those sections. Thought it would give a bit more unique look. About 3 light coats of niteshades, 5 coats of clear and alot of polishing! It still didn't polish perfectly. I used Meguiars ultimate polish. I have some plastx, but it says not for painted surfaces....so was worried about damaging the tint.

Gonna start this mod today. Hope it goes well.

I need to refinish my headlights too...am I right in thinking the same procedure will work for them, but skipping the application of niteshades?

At the risk of self-promotion, I have to admit that tail light tint film is the way to go. It's too easy for a clutz like me to mess up the light with sanding and painting and, as others have pointed out, you can really easily go too dark and make selling the truck impossible. I know our Rtint Taillight Films and some of Vvivid's tail light tint films have air-egress channels so they go one easier than, say, ORACAL's films. AAlso,Rtint is availbale in Blackout and Smoke (I think Vvvid is too) but ORACAL always looked sort of brown.

If it's allowed and anyone wants to see I will try to find installed examples of our Tundra kits. Anyway, cool thread. Have a great weekend everbody.

    Best,

    Mike

I would love to see some pics of people that have used tint on their tail lights as well. I think I'm going to go LEDs in my stock tails and would love to get the blacked out tint look after
