I thought changing to LED bulbs was easy. I guess not!

    Happy Sunday fellas,

I bought a 15 light LED bulb kit to change all the lights in my 2018 Tundra interior. I did the driver side map one and that one worked out good. Now when I tried the passenger side bulb, that’s when the fun began. I bent the little copper clamp looking thingy too much. When I put a bulb in nothing happens. Also, now it’s too far up that I can’t reach it. The light stopped working. I decided to stop there and not change any more bulbs lol.

I think I need a new one of those clamp things. I just don’t know what’s it’s called. I tried to look online but can’t come up with anything. Can someone please tell me what that little part is called and if it’s easy to change myself. I called a couple of places to see if they would do it and neither did. Do I go to a regular mechanic for something like this or can I do it myself?.

I tried asking my father in law to help me with it as he helps a lot and he told me he would rather not as there are too many wires and he is scared he might mess something up. I would appreciate any insight.

Glad to know I’m not alone lol. Thanks for the link. I’ll attempt to do it. Did you get to change all of the lights in the interior?. I’m scared to mess with the rest of them :)

I did mine on my 18. It wasn’t that hard. The map one seems to give the most trouble. When I put in the passenger map one, it didnt work. I turned it around and then it worked. Didn’t know it made a difference on the way it went in.

    Domes and visors are easy.

Unlike incandescent bulbs polarity matters on LEDs.

Headlightrevolution has videos of the installs on all the bulbs. Highly recommend watching them. Also as yall discovered LEDs are polar sensitive.

I didn’t know. Glad I didn’t blow anything when I put it in wrong.

Man I blew a fuse and pushed the driver side bulb hold too far up. Now I will have to replace the fuse and pull the entire map light down Jesus take the wheel!

I did the same thing - not a big deal taking the overhead console down I’d already done it once to install a new microphone for my new HU.

I didn't pop a fuse, but I did the same thing with the map light. That's the hardest ones.

Putting a diode in backwards won’t or should not blow a fuse. They will only allow current flow in one direction but they won’t short anything by putting in backwards. I would guess if you have blown a fuse you touched the positive to something grounded.

Yes, I was wondering where the fuse is located at also. I blew my driver map fuse and had the dealer fix it. Now I'm not sure if I want to replace with LED's or not I hear they mess with the radio antenna or something.

Just pull off the negative wire off the battery and you should have no problems blowing a fuse. If you need to quickly test a light due to polarity just lay the negative on while testing. Dose not need to be tightened down in order for the light to light.

I did the same thing, pulled down the console and pushed it back into place.
