Yup. I think I am going to rewire it somehow as it a pain to plug in each time. Please keep this thread updated if you do run into any trouble.

So if your sig is accurate, you have a 2002 and you've added a HU and have Apple CarPlay? Cool!

Yes. I did a whole tear down and rebuild for the audio. I will be writing it up once I get other things done. (I just redid the whole suspension excepting the rear springs.) It involved 40 hours of acoustic isolation in the cab. I also put in the q logic box with two 8 inch subs. The sound is, well, like a night club inside!

Wow! WAY more than I would be comfortable taking on! But I listen to old (70's & 80's) music and talk radio. What you've done is extreme overkill for me!

If I bypass the Carplay2air and connect my phone directly to the BT on the stock HU and place it on the wireless charger just like I do when I connect to the Car2play there is never any skipping.

I purchased one of these and have been using it for about 4 days. Love not having to plug my phone in to use the Apple carplay feature. Updating it was easy and it works awesome.

How well does wireless carplay function? Reviews on Amazon are mixed - some people say it works really well and they are thrilled with it, some people say that it's not quite there yet and they are returning in. Is it fast? When you're using the maps, do you feel like it shows your location in real time? What's the ownership experience like after a full month?

I've had mine for well over a month and I still love it. The ONLY inconvenience I've had is when I am already on a call and get in the truck and start it. I lose the call for several seconds as it switches over to the Bluetooth.

Maps work GREAT! Google Maps is SO much better then the Tundra Nav.

I have used it some to stream Spotify and have not had any issues, but I don't do that often.

I've had mine for probably a month now and have almost no issues with it. There is a tiny bit of a lag when using the on screen controls, but not enough to worry about. Waze works really well and so does Apple Maps.

The only issues is about 1 time in 20, it has a long time or hard time connecting to my phone.

Something that was happening to me was the device would disconnect and then reconnect after about 20 minutes of use. So yesterday we took a long drive to go look at a truck camper. The total drive was around 240 miles. I had my Iphone set to 4G because it works better at work and I had forgotten to switch it to LTE when I got home. The device worked perfect the entire trip playing Pandora. Makes me wonder if the device gets strange when it dose not have a good cell signal and reboots to tries and reconnect.

Please excuse my ignorance as I am coming from a 2006 GMC product. I am confused, am I missing something? My 2020 Tundra's AppleCarPlay seems to work off of Bluetooth without the need of any other "connections". I can play my Amazon Music or use Google Maps.

The built in Bluetooth connection is limited to music and maybe phone calls (forgot). You have to plug it in to get access to messaging, GPS apps on your phone and other apps (Spotify). The Wireless Carplay modules discussed here allow you to have access to all those apps without plugging your phone in.

Yea, I was mistaken. I took a drive around the block and it is as you say, I could play the Amazon Music as soon as I unplugged the phone Google Maps went away. The sound also went a few notches down. As soon as I plugged it back in (a few second delay), the sound went back up and Maps started.

The wireless option is very nice. I do not even have to take my phone out of my pocket.

Yea, seems pretty slick. You have both, the wireless Carplay and the wireless charger?

Does this mean it’s only on AppleCarPlay when I’m in the Truck? There are more times that I use Bluetooth features and not Apple Car Play. Is it easy to switch between both features?

Yes, I have both, but I still keep an extra cable in the console in case I need a quick charge. No wireless charger can provide the same charging current that a cable can.

I installed mine like this after seeing your post.
For the above question yes I have the wireless charger on top of the center console and I have a Rokform wireless charger on a Proform mount on my dash so we can charge 2 phones wirelessly if needed.

Just read through all these posts and from what I can gather:
    - the price on Amazon fluctuates, but ~$130 is a decent price.
    - Connect on start-up is pretty solid
    - Sound is decent
    - Some skipping or loss of signal is common but not lengthy (sounds like no worse than Sirius and tunnels/overpasses)
    - One guy has a big problem with a blue line

One thing I didn't see anyone mention is do the steering wheel controls still work, volume, calls, etc?
Anything else different between the wired or wireless CarPlay experience?

I have one and it works pretty well. I had the issue with it restarting periodically while using waze and spotify at the same time. After realizing I was several updates behind on the unit and getting that fixed the unit has been solid again. It is much nicer not having to connect a phone every time I was to use the nav.

All controls work just fine. I didn't use the wired carplay long enough to know for sure, but it seems like everything works as if you are plugged in.

Cool, thanks. What's the difference between the standard version and the 2.0? Is it just an updated version or different applications? I couldn't really find anything explaining the difference. The one everyone here is using is the one listed for Audi, correct?

Yeah, it's weird, there's two distinct looking boxes, and listings for specific manufacturers, all at different prices, but the Carlinkit website says one unit supports all makes as long as you have wired CarPlay. I'd order it straight from them if it didn't take so long to ship.
Guess I'll just go with what I know works for everyone else's Tundras. Thanks for the info!

How is everyone charging their phone with this wireless device? Can you still use the cable to charge the phone using a normal usb outlet instead of the CarPlay usb slot?

Surely you can plug it in to a normal charging USB port, but a lot of folks go with the wireless charger in the center console lid.

My Cplay2air came in today finally. Only messed with it about 5 minutes but seems to be working fine.

Glad you got yours. What version IOS are you running on your iPhone. I ordered mine 14 days ago and the DHL tracking does not show a eta. How long did it take to receive yours?
