Hey guys, I am in NW Oregon, where even after evacuating, I now have smoke and ash that I cannot escape.

I can’t park the truck inside, so washing it right now doesn’t make sense... in an hour it will have a new film of ash.

I’m nervous because now it’s cooling off and we have moisture in the morning, and moisture plus ash is no good for a car finish. Any ideas?

Should I just let it sit and avoid touching the finish until the smoke has cleared, and then power was and hand wash?

Or, should I be making every effort to keep it clean now?

Cheapest and easiest thing to buy right now would be a tarp or some king size sheets to cover it if you don't have a car cover.

Power washed the ash off today. Water still beaded nicely (thanks to my OCD?) and I washed with ONR. Dried it. It’s sitting outside and I’ll have to drive it 100+ miles a day, so I’ll just wash it everyday.

My home was just re-assessed at Level 1, so I may be able to go back and park in the garage for the rest of this BS.

I live in SoCal and we've been having these every summer it seems like now. Haven't noticed any negative effects from the ash. We live in ash under a red sun. Its kind of creepy
