Just to add to this thread. I have a 2019 Cavalry blue with 15,200 miles and I also have the same discoloration. I noticed it tonight while washing the truck and thought I had just missed that entire bottom side, so I washed it again and it was still there, remembering that I had seen this thread topic but never opened it until now... mine looks like the photos already posted.

I'm noticing this on my 2019 Cement. Looks like a light beige line on the bottom. I will show the dealer on my next service visit. Has anyone had this fixed by Toyota?

You're the first non Cavalry truck I've seen with this. Wonder if it's something with thier flatter colors? I've not heard of anyone getting it fixed. Honestly, I'd be afraid of it being messed up more. I will probably let the dings and scratched happen, and then just get that portion bed lined. The perk to the Cavalry and Cement is that they both look great with black highlights. Quicksand might get the same discoloration, but good luck spotting it on them. :notsure:

I haven't really been able to check our Cavalry blue due to winter grime.

How much of the discoloration in the photos is reflection of angle off the ground or side bars?

The photo above of the cement one, it an exact ghosting of the side step and bars. I'm not seeing and discoloration on it that isn't shadow.

The best pic of it is in Post #26. When I saw it on my truck I thought it was a reflection of the dirt on the ground, but then I put my black coat where the reflection would be coming from. It is not a reflection. It is visible regardless of the surface you park it on. It is visible with a flashlight at night on asphalt. It is also, only where the extra chip guard is present under the paint. I would guess that it's a chemical reaction that leeches through and discolors the paint.

I definitely see it in that post, just not in the Cement one above.

One of these days I'll check mine out. I guess I'm not not overly concerned this early on in ownership. I got a couple years to put in a claim.

I wouldn't want it repainted, I'll take factory paint any day. Worst case, I'd get that portion Line-X'd after it started to look completely crappy. As you said, the Black & Blue makes it easy to tinker with down the road.

It is harder to discern on the Cement, but I can see it. If you look at the gravel reflection above the chip guard you can see how the reflection is distorted/harder to see as you move down the truck toward the reflection of the steps. That distortion is because the gravel isn't reflected in the tan-ish discoloration as well as it is in the normal cement paint.

Totally with you on the factory paint, and the bedliner option. I plan to keep this truck until either I die, or it does, so as long as I like the look then that is all that matters. If I were going to be trading it off, I might hesitate to bedline it, because it narrows the appeal to those that like that mod. It's not something that can be undone. All depends on your situation I guess.

My cell phone camera didn't do a good job showing it. I noticed it while back and thought it was reflecting the ground. After cleaning it this time it was much more noticeable. It almost has a creamy look to it.

The rock chip guard on my Super White 2007 is worn out... this thread has given me some ideas on how to remedy the situation. I think non-textured color matching Line-X would be my best bet.IMG_1075.jpg

That looks like the external ones Toyota uses, similar to clear bra. You can probably get a replacement for that and swap it pretty easily.
The chip guard that is discoloring on these trucks is the textured one they apply underneath the factory paint.

Screenshot_20200315-192358_Chrome.jpg Silver sky metallic, same issue. I've noticed it on several other silver tundras. Looks the the calvary blue stands out the worst.
    Update @Tundra907?

My 2019 Cement dbl. cab has the same discoloration. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the metallic or pearl in the paint.

20k miles update: Took truck to dealership, showed them the same issues others have posted. They spoke with Toyota Corporate and offered to either paint it or give me an extended warranty. I opted for the repaint since this is happening with new paint there’s no telling what will happen in a few years. Could peel off like the Super White paint on the Tacoma was doing.

Anyways. So just an update to show that another dealer has opted for repaint rather than brushing me off.

I have noticed it many times when I clean my cement Tundra. It has never bothered me since it blends right in with cement color. I would bother me if I had a darker shade of color.

I don’t see it unless I look for it, my issue is what happens down the road after warranty has expired and it gets worse, then it turns into a pissing contest with Toyota.

I gotcha...well I still have a 2004 tacoma and the paint looks like dogshit. I took great care of it waxing and such.....it has been outside all of its life. In saying that....i am not sure Toyotas paint is their strong point.

Mine has slight discoloration after having it for a month and a half. Once it gets really bad, guess I'll start hitting dealers for a repaint.
