So I've been getting my 2006 DC ready to sale. One task on my list was the non-functional back window.

It hasn't been working for years and since I rarely used it, I just let it go. Wasn't interested in the several hundred dollar replacement regulator + assembly.

I read various threads and knew that since mine would click when the button was pressed, it is something to do with the motor.

Folded my seats up, pulled the back cover off, then pulled the other metal cover off. Staring at this mechanism, wondering how the heck do I get that motor out of there.

Then I realize that the motor is actually the silver oval shaped thing screwed to what I assume is the regulator. Removed the two philips' screws and off it came without needing to remove anything else.

The brushes looked fine, makes sense as I rarely used it. I pulled the commutator out and there was some carbon build up where the brushes ride. Got 400 grit sand paper, wrapped it around a small stick and cleaned that all off.

Put the thing back together and my window now WORKS.

Just something to try if your window has the click but nothing else.

I love that power rear window feature of the Tundra. I hardly ever use it though.

I love mine also and use it often. I did not even realize it had one until a few days after buying. BONUS!! Living in Las Vegas gets pretty HOT and this definately helps at times. Good Ac helps too.
