Was consolidating ammo last night; and while I've got plenty of some, I want/need more of other stuff. While cleaning/consolidating, I mentioned to my wife that I needed to get some more.

Her: "Yeah I don't think you have enough."
Me: *Cross-legged in the middle of a pile of ammo* "Unsure if you're joking or not...."
Her: "No, I'm serious....you need more ammo."

    :amen: I love my wife.

    LOL!!! Very nice.

A few weeks ago we were at our friends house who recently put up an 82” Samsung TV.
A day or so later my wife was like “I think we should get a bigger TV” (we have a 65”)

I was like......uhhhh......what in the hell is wrong with you, and what’s the plot behind your plan here o_O
Thankfully she can’t shoot me with a new TV unlike the OP

Yeah but when you're sitting 14" away from it, watching cartoons on a Saturday morning, she can drop it on your head and then tell the police she has no idea what happened and that she always told you it was bad for your eyes to sit so close..

I may be projecting a little.

Nope, she's just cool. She's also the one who told me "Well look, if you're going to buy a new truck, get what you REALLY want so you're satisfied with what you get."

I’m the same way, after 15 years of marriage I finally know when my wife is on board with something. Case in point — there was an air compressor on sale the other day, I told her I wanted it. She said “well if you really think we need one...” which is code for “you better not bring that home or you’re sleeping on the couch.” I correctly chose to forego the purchase...

My wife told me a few weeks ago that she’s got no problem with having more guns in the house, just “don’t go buy anything too crazy.” I never loved her more.

I don’t have a lot of ammo by a really serious shooter’s standards, maybe 1300 total rounds of range and self defense 9, 1000 total rounds of 45, couple hundred rounds of 38 and/357 and a few hundred of 556.

I only shoot a couple times a month right now. Serious shooters would say that amount is nothing. My wife’s jaw would probably drop if she looked in my ammo closet, But she has not asked exactly how many guns or how much ammo I have in awhile. Lol the number has gone from four to ten since the last time she knew it. She has gone from saying she is a bit bothered by more than 4-5 to keeping quiet about it as long as they’re properly locked up.

Well, my wife used to think that way...was raised just outside of Richmond, VA, wasn't really into firearms. Then we ended up in the area of the Ponderosa restaurant in Ashland, VA, when one of the DC sniper victims was shot back in 2002.

Obviously having a firearm @ the time may not have done much, but it DEFINITELY got her thinking about situational awareness. Same thing with 'prepping' - we're not doomsday preppers, but then COVID-19 hit, and everyone had issues getting toilet paper, canned goods, and flour....and suddenly the stores we've had for years made sense to my wife. (Dad taught me this stuff...and I guarantee he was looking down from heaven saying "GOOD job son!")

In other words, she realizes that the way things are going, firearms may not always be just for fun. Always prepare for worst case scenario.

When the riots started my friend with an AR who’d always wanted me to buy one to shoot with him started in on me about how every house needs a long gun at a time like this and my 9 pistols don’t matter. She kind of half jokingly prodded me along with him which was pretty funny to me. Watching street thugs play GTA with stolen police cars 20 minutes up the road in Philly and hearing Social media chatter about people calling to hit the suburbs reconfigured a lot of peoples’ thinking around here.

5 years ago she’d have called me a nut job if I put a loaded AR in a rifle safe in the basement. This time I told her the safe was coming and said I was considering putting it in a storage room off of our live-in attic that would be barely noticeable to thieves and where our kid never goes. She said we’d probably be able to access it faster from the first floor if it was in the basement so it should go there.

Yup. Firearm sales have been record high with all the craziness and the fact that LEOs can't be everywhere, or simply aren't responding due to no support on the DA/upper management side of things. Last stats I heard were that last month there were 5 million firearm purchases from first time buyers. That doesn't count anyone who is picking up more for themselves, just the first timers. The chaos has certain opened peoples eyes to the fact that laws don't protect you, and even police can't protect you. You have to be able to protect yourself.

    I mean, you're not wrong.

    BUT

    1.) Wife works.
2.) My wife WANTS me to buy more ammo

So I mean, 2x the income and I have a license to buy ammo?

Indeed. Where I live, the cops know us (live around the corner) and they've flat out said "We view decent folk like yourself as necessary when/if the SHTF."

I feel sorry for anybody who can’t or doesn’t do a joint pot for the household and separate the rest. Me and her are generally the same page about enjoying not having to answer to each other about where each credit card swipe happens and why.

My wife wanted a LTC. She had never shot a gun. I told her if she wanted to do this we needed to be serious about our shooting.

A few months ago I bought her a Kimber Micro 9 and we started going to the range. We currently shoot 200 rounds each, every week.

I bought her a Hellcat this summer, but she bounces between the two pistols. At 10 ~15 yards she is pretty accurate.

nice man and i feel you when you can connect with your spouse that way! thanks for sharing. one of my requirements when i was looking for a ltr waaaaaay back was she should have an M1 endorsement (motorcycle license) because I didn't want to be continuously told i can't ride anymore and they're too dangerous. was so happy when i met her because not only did she have an m1 but she's former military, E5 and then drill sergeant in the army to be exact.

if it goes down around here she's good with taking point and doing recon. lol.

when we were out buying one time she talked about how she's not as familiar with small arms as she is with both an M16 and an M60. schwwwiiinnng.

What is your experience with the Kimber Micro 9? We bought one and have been unimpressed. It had a lot of FTF and FTL issues and we had to send it back. Those appear to be fixed but we never know which direction the brass will fly. We've been hit in the face, etc.

I'm probably going to sell it.

That's great! Here in East TN, you can't find ammo, if if the wife wanted me to buy it. Not sure what's going on, but it's hard to come by. Was in GA two weeks ago and was instructed to go to a certain pawn shop, where I purchased two boxes of 50 rounds (9mm) for 20.00 a box. That's all they'd sell to me, had to go back the next day and get two more boxes. You guys having the same issue?
