What is the average price for paying someone to install a remote start system?

I cringe when I see scotch locks used to tap into wiring, but this one installer depended on just twisting the wires together and taping them up. Removing the black tape from all over was the most annoying. Sticky goo all over the place.

I've seen advertisements at around $100-$150 installed. Costs will go up if you need a transponder kit (keys with chip).

For comparison, parts alone: basic Viper one-button kit runs $49, a step up gets remote trunk/accessory output, and power door locks for $79.

Yea I'm planning on going to best buy or some small owned business maybe too, and getting one installed for the tundra

I've been out of the professional install world for 15-20 years, so you'll need to listen to @ktundra on this one.

Scotchlocks are ass! I'm glad PosiLock entered the market to put a better product out. I just wish they made a right-angle tap-style product to make it easier to use with looms and in harnesses. Not ideal to have your tap perpendicular to a harness.

    Front Door Drop.

Its the Aisin Fan Bracket ($109) and Heavy Duty Gates Accessory Belt ($34). The Bracket feels quality. The Belt is much stouter than the Basic Duty Continental ($21) one I put on 2 years ago.

Awesome, I see that you've got a 2001. They are fairly easy to wire up, no transponder, no fancy existing remote key entry / alarms to interface.

I would try and get recommendations in your area from Yelp or perhaps Groupon and see how long they've been in business. All told, a reasonable install should run anywhere between $100 to $200. I'd ask if the installer will be using T-harnesses, soldered connections, or wire taps. Good shops will start with T-harnesses and soldered connections.

The amount of damage they do to wire casings and sometimes to the stranded wire is ridiculous!

please don't use best buy to install anything on a vehicle....you're better off having Stevie Wonder do it.

But if you get Stevie to do it, you'd have the upside of meeting a legend and might even be able to talk him into a song or two.

This is the 2003 I just picked up, this before pic is without the new OEM Green paint. Spray in bedliner and tool box, I had the interior covered in camp seat to match the exterior. Just keeping it simple but clean. Also went through and replaced a bunch of old cracked seals, added new suspension with a 2.0 level kit up front. It’s a 5 speed and only has 132k so she’s ready to drive. I’ll post pics of the after tomorrow.

Took mine out to the local big blue box store for some siding panels. Took the long way around to get it up to normal operating temperature and gave it a bit of a workout. When I replaced the rotors a week or so ago, I noticed the end link bushings were pretty much gone. I have received new replacements and will be taking care of those soon.

Big Gurrl Aisin Water Pump/TB Kit came in today. High quality feel and finish on all parts. The WP is even stamped Aisin even though the description said it would not. Came with a nice instruction manual and a TB Stamp for putting under the hood for better resale tingles.

Pretty cool clip system for these new water hoses. Looks like you slip them on and then pull the clip hold back clamp and they snap on to the spot you choose.

It was. And technically there’s a new ac bracket too. But you should be fine without it

Yeah. Think I’ll Roll with the Toy 103 as I still have an entire tube from my valve Cover Job 2 years ago. The Goo is still Gooey in the tubey upon checking up on it.

If you are saying not to use the Toy 103, then I’d chose to use the Aisin AB1207B.

Unless the $80 shtuff is the only thing worth using? Seems steep and I’ll pay.
