I often use my trucks for Home Depot/Lowes trips as well as stone and soil hauling. A super nice tonneau like Diamond Back seems like it's more trouble to remove for those trips than others.

In your experience, do you prefer a roll up cloth tonneau or a folding cover?

Love my Rugged Cover II trifold hard cover. One person can easily remove in about 30 seconds. It’s water tight and secure.

sotex..... ya got that right...way too many to choose from. I got my truck in April and just installed a roll up yesterday.
All have positives and negatives..... but , for me, it seems like a roll up will work out the best ( hopefully ) for the way i use my truck.

I'm also looking to add a cover to my recently purchased 2013 Tundra. I have 2 friends, 1 has a roll up which I think is what I will want , the other a fold up and both fit their needs. My question is , on the fold up, doesn't the fold up get in the way at times if you need to carry something taller than the bed since you cant slide it all the way to the front of the bed? Thanks for any info

Roll up will get you more clearance in the bed if you need to load large items in, like appliances, or a load of dirt, for example.
Tri-Fold is easier to mess with. It's quicker to fold up, and quicker to cover the bed back up, but it eats up a little bed space when left on and folded up.

I bought a Gator, which is made by Extang, I believe. It's a vinyl trifold. I've had it on my truck for two years and 0 complaints, especially for the price I paid for it.

If I need to completely remove it, it only takes maybe a minute. I took a paint pen and made marks on it and the mounting brackets so when I put it back on, I don't have to worry about it lining up right.

If you had a roll up, I doubt you'd ever need to mess with removing it.
I opted for tri-fold because I'm constantly using it.

I've had an Undercover (back in 2008) and hated it. Then it was an electric roll-n-lock. It was nice but it'd short out or something and I had to constantly open it up and reset it. Then it was a bak-flip and I missed being able to only roll the cover as far back as I wanted and lock it. I also hated flipping it all the way up and it blocking the rear window.
My last two trucks have had the Retrax Pros (most recent has channels to install yakima stuff). You lose some bed space but there's just something about being able to roll it back and lock it in place. Also, the locking mechanism is on the driver's side and also acts as a handle. Better than a lot of them which have a strap in the middle or locks on both sides.

It came on my truck when I purchased it used- Truxedo Lo Pro. But I love it, it is easy to use, allows full use of the bed if needed. Waterproof, lightweight. And I think they are very cost effective when comparing to others.

I had a tri fold on a previous truck and never liked it. Took too much space when needing to use the bed, especially bad because it was a short bed truck. Not as water tight as what I have now.

I have a roll-up. I just went to the local, well-rated shop and asked which one they'd recommend based on not having issues with it....

I am also trying to decide which to buy. Can someone post a pic of a rolled up one that is completely rolled up? Thanks.

I have a CM with a rollup. One of the things I like about it is the piece near the cab will come off with two thumb screws (with the cover) to give full bed length. I usually just roll it up but every once and a while I have to take the cab end off to let me close the tailgate on the load. A couple of minutes work.

If you have a CrewMax I would make sure you don’t loose any cargo length. They are short anyway.

Thanks for posting the pics. I like the idea that there is much more usable bed space compared to the fold up. Also removal looks easier too.

How water ‘proof’ is it? I wouldn’t expect perfection but at the price you paid for that guy, it’s definitely an option. I’ve seen a lot of bad stories about these $1000, heavy duty units being extremely hit or miss and downright finicky with regards to leaks. My purposes for a bed cover would be purely to keep whatever needs to be covered as dry as possible.

Not great along the rails, but the center is bone dry. It poured last night so I went to check. I wouldn’t trust it with anything that HAD to be dry (electronics), but for anything you just prefer staying dry, it’s fine.

That’s not terrible! Yeah, the stuff I’d want to keep dry is luggage. I’m never evacuating without a bed cover again. With a bed rug(and maybe some painters plastic or something for essential dryness) that bed cover should do the job.

I just looked at Truxedo at my local deal, they seemed like a great product and look sharp! I can't remember what the name was, but the one that has a canvas top was most appealing to me. And as others have stated, it has to best warranty(lifetime).

I waited forever to pull the trigger on the Truxedo Lo Pro, hoping the hefty $499 price tag went down during Black Friday week. It didn't. Then I came across this guy (Luke Kyle) in one of the threads and he sells brand new Lo Pros for $385 year-round. You can't beat that price and he had it shipped to me in 2 days.

I have a Truxedo on my second Tundra, but went with a Tyger trifold on my CM. Very happy with it as well.

I really like the retrax, they look super nice. Check out the pace edwards switchblade too, it's half the price and has a cool spring retract feature.

Lomax tri fold was another cover I was impressed with. The dealer told me he has sold a ton of them in the last year and that is what he is using on his truck. So I started asking around with some guys I know that have different tonno covers and learned that a friend of mine just got one about 3 months ago. It's very* low pro, easy to use, very water proof, and can be easily removed for full bed use. It's obviously more than soft top models, but from what I saw it was the best hard top folding tonno out there! https://www.agricover.com/lomax/
