This might be a noob question here, but I can't seem to find an answer. I have read countless posts about changing the suspension on my 2016 Tundra to a quality suspension lift. The issue is that they all max out at 3". How can I go beyond that while maintaining quality? Personally I am only looking for a little bit more like 4-5". I am wanting just enough to get 35's to fit comfortably without a bunch of trimming if that's possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

35s fit with 3 inch lift. Offset on ur rims is the key to not having to do a lot of cutting. Most if not all 5” or higher kits require you to cut the crossmember so that’s something to keep in mind. Any kit you can add coilovers for a smoother ride. It also depends how much money you want to spend and what kind of offroading if any you are going to do.

Like fisherman951 said, in order to get more than 3" of suspension lift, you have to go with a drop bracket type of lift. Most, if not all, drop bracket lifts require cutting the front frame crossmember and replacing it with the lift kit's own drop bracket crossmember. Although greater lift is achieved, you don't gain much, if any, front ground clearance because of the lowered front drop bracket.

You can, theoretically, get more than 3" of lift using aftermarket coilovers or spacers, but you risk prematurely wearing or breaking ball joints, CV boots and axles, and possibly tie rod ends, not to mention the rough ride since you would've used up all available down travel. Hence, the reason most of these kinds of lifts max out at 3" to avoid those issues.

I have 37's on 3" but honestly its too tight. I'll probably end up doing a 1" body lift.

I did not want a 6" lift with a subframe so I chose this, really happy with it but 35's would have been more functional

Thank you all for the info! Really appreciate getting advice from actual people instead of just google. I will most likely be going with one of the Toytec lifts and getting a slightly narrower tire if needed. One last question. If at some point I wanted to somehow go from say 3" to 4" lift, would the Toytec suspension still work or am I locked in to 3" or a total replacement?

I’m on 4”. Ome 613 coilovers and two coachbuilder shims 1/4” each. I have a diff drop as well and uca’s and a body mount chop on 37x12.5x18s and 1.5” offset.

I didn’t do my bmc for 35s on stock rims and 1.5” spacers. You can squeeze 4” out of a coilover setup. Or at least I have. Been running this setup for almost two years now. Replaced both cv joints just after the lift as they had 250xxx miles on them, I jumped the truck and the drivers broke so I’ll chalk it up as abuse. Then replaced a drivers on warranty a few months later with a ripped boot. Been about a year since.

You can add/remove coachbuilder shims anytime. Wheel alignment needed if changes are made though.

I am going to stick with a suspension lift only and not go with the bracket lifts. Toytec seems to be the most recommended brand on this site, but I am having issues getting in touch with them to figure out specifics on what to buy. Are they other brands that have just as good quality or can someone offer up some info on what to order? Im itching to pull the trigger on this but this is my first lifted truck and not feeling 100% confident on what im ordering

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
Don’t go with a lift blocks in the back get lift shackles. Better articulations from rear suspension.
The Toytec boys will do you right if you go that way.

You can reach out to @Coachbuilder1 for some tips and learn what he’s got.
I’ve never heard any complaints about what he sells and technical abilities to keep you informed on your build and guidance. His parts are solid.

Good luck, many, including me have been in your shoes.

I have the toytec boss at 3” of front lift, aluma 2.0 rear shocks and coachbuilder +2 shackles for 1.25” of rear lift. Pretty happy with the performance. I would advise staying away from any shims with the coil overs and I believe Toytec says not to use. You can independently adjust to gain side to side level

Pretty sure the 3" mark is where you'll need new UCAs as well. Make sure to account for that in your budget.

You can use shims with coilovers. Its better in some situations as it adds a little lift without adding preload. Also i have icon coilovers with 2” of thread showing, which they say not to go over, so I can add a shim for a little more lift and not go over their recommendation.

Yes you certainly can but doesn’t mean you should....Warranty is voided with Toytec if you use them.

Just trying to give the OP all the info. Also doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Toytec is only 1 of many out there. I’ve read of a lot of people with shims but haven’t read of 1 that had issues.

@Toytec Lifts Do i just click start a conversation? I have already done that here and I have messaged the toytec website and called as well. Maybe I am just a bit slow . I will try to pm you again and see if it comes through. Thanks again everyone. I will be sure to take some pictures once I get stuff ordered.

im no expert but my understanding is the aftermarket uca's help for better alignment and suspension articulation when adjusting torsion bars. re-indexing the torsion bars allow to get slightly more lift. but again, im no expert.

Try calling ADS Shocks. I believe their front bolt in front 2.5 coilovers can go up to 4" with aftermarket upper control arms. I have a set of their coilovers on order and plan on going over 3".

Why are we lifting the truck 4 inches with coilovers? There is only downside. The same tire that you can clear at 4 will also fit at 3

Never had a problem with the lower bj? I've got 141K and new uppers but I want to squeeze by with a 3.5" coilover lift instead of the spacer level kit I've got on

Still running the stock set? I just want to make sure that I am good to spend the money on coilovers and not balljoints lol
