I drove a super charged 4.7 a few months ago and I was a bit disappointed. It definitely had the cool factor but the performance wasn’t there. I was planning on buying the whole truck, swapping it over to mine and reselling the old truck. If my math was correct (I gave myself some wiggle room), parts, labor, swapping, etc, I could have it on my truck for $1500-$2000 all said and done. This was paying someone else to swap it for me as well but I didn’t feel $2000 was worth the “upgrade.”

What was the performance disappointment for you? I thought they added 100hp?

I posted about it in the GD thread awhile back. I think they do advertise around an extra 118hp but according to my butt dyno, it wasn’t there. My brother came with me because I had full intentions in buying the truck that day. We got it in and drove it around till it was up to temp.

We stopped, looked at each other and he said “hit it.” I mashed the skinny pedal to the floor and the tires began spinning, we thought this was it and then, that really was it lol. After the tires grabbed traction it accelerated but to me, only slightly faster than my N/A tundra. I looked over at my brother and he was staring at me laughing. I’m not sure what we were expecting but it definitely wasn’t that. It honestly felt like my stock 5.3L in my ‘05 Silverado which is probably about right because they are rated at 345hp.

The supercharged tundra was at a local dealer for sale at $7999. I think I was able to talk them down to $5000 cash out the door. The truck was pretty rough, 281k, missing lots of parts, interior shot, missing half the exhaust, cut holes in the bed, etc. The engine seemed to run well but it was so low on coolant, the fan ran the whole time. After some horse trading, parts, labor etc, I would have been in the supercharger for $1500-$2000 depending on how much the other truck would sell for. I decided that for me, that money would be better spent else where.

    Here is the truck:

I was definitely tempted but it was more of a novelty than anything. It’s definitely a cool idea but the dollar to fun ratio wasn’t worth it for me.

yep got it a few months ago, it was on offer up and I got lucky.
I'll do a thread on it in a few days, alot of people seem to be interested in it and honestly might be a waste for me since I use my truck as a daily and work truck so building the engine the right way might not be the path for me.

Honestly wondering if I could trade it for an MK4 Supra shell...

its taken alot of restraint to not buy the engine. because i think it would fit in a tacoma okish too.... man im bad.

I wouldn’t doubt I have one by the end of next year

I’ve also contemplated using one in a mid engine sand rail type deal... oh the possibilities

Does anyone know what companies carry an upgraded pulley kit for these superchargers?

Found one a while ago but can't seem to find the link or where... FML...

Where did you find those TRD headers? They have a carb sticker right? My doug thorley shorties are okay but really want long tubes and as you know CA don’t like us moving our cats.

Came with my supercharger set up, They are very rare but i got lucky.
And yes I have a carb sticker for the supercharger but not sure if it covers the headers but since they're from the factory I'm going to try to get away with it.
My Smog guy said it shouldn't be a problem.
Still collecting parts so going to be a bit until I put it to the test.

hey so im new to the forum. literally just joined when i saw this thread. i have a 2001 tundra w/ 4.7 and trd supercharger. so i went to tear it down since it skipped timing to dlo the timing belt job... long story short i cant find any matching parts regarding the serpentine system. i get the belt between 2630 and 2700mm, but where do i find the idler pulleys and the tensioners w/ the correct pullies at the right size?
sorry to hi-jack the thread but i saw some parts where people were speaking to the scarcity of the tundra parts in general, so i thought this might be ok to go along with the post. if not please direct me the correct way. thanks.

p.s. also would love to see this swapped into something tiny like a b2200, lol. thatd be gnarly

You only need 2 different pulleys on top of your OEM system,
    Dayco 89007 Pulley
    Dayco 89003 Pulley

    Belt is
    Gates 2700mm 6-rib

Got all of these parts on Rock Auto, hope this helps!

If your in the middle of a tear down might be worth pulling your injectors for a cleaning and re-calibration, mine were off 12% relative to each other (before I installed mine), nice to have them all firing cleanly now.
