First pull with the Tundra today. Went from Monterey, over the hills to the valley. 150 miles. Weight was around 7500 lbs. More squat than I had hoped . Truck did great. Didnt like the slack in the hitch but...

Sons Q50 red had a double sidewall failure and closest dealer was 100m away. No tires in stock anywhere, most places closed on Sunday.

    Used tow mode .

Well... Uhaul claims $50 a day and it's really $125 as they have a two day rental. I used it for 4 hrs. Oh well. It does bring air bags into consideration. I don't haul anything to often but like to be prepared when I do. Truck pulled well and the gearing helped on descents.

I might do a similiar tow in a couple months time, but it will be 800 miles.

Highways are cake providing no quick stops or winding roads. Tow mode stretches everything out but keeps trans happy. Never saw needles move, even on long grades.

I will be pulling up the CA/OR border, Siskiyou pass is the highest summit there.. :D Hopefully it won't have issues going up/down.

Sincerely doubt it. Would be ideal to have trailer brakes, but don't underestimate engine braking. 4.30 helps.

You will be fine. I tow my travel trailer up and down the pass. Little slower than normal but it does just fine. 0A8083EA-8AFC-44A7-89BA-00056BB36DA2.jpg

I just used my '18 Tundra to haul a uhaul auto transport 1200 miles. Make sure Uhaul gives you new tires, they gave me old tires, I questioned it and I was told they would be fine. About 250 mi into the trip I blew a tire and it set me back 3 hrs. Uhaul contact road side assistance came out and told me Uhaul is changing tire styles and they are trying to use up the old tires. Just my 2 cents.

What type of hitch are you guys using? I have to haul a Uhaul 6x12 the same route, and last time I pulled one, the trailer was slightly nose down behind my Tundra Limited.

How on earth does that little car and trailer = 7500lbs ???

Those Q50's are under 4000lbs and that trailer cant be more than 1500lbs, 2k tops.

Worst case scenario, you had 6000lbs behind your truck.

Wondering what kind of ball mount was used? I’d like to be prepared for towing Uhaul car transporter just in case.

Just curious why you didn't just remove the tire and toss it in the bed? I'm sure I'm missing something.

The new cars don't have spare tires to conserve weight/fuel. He had run flats. It ran flat. He also had low profile tires with a double strike to the shoulder. No replacement options within 100 miles.

Gotcha. Just seems bizarre to an old fart like me to have to tow a car over 200 miles to get a flat fixed. :notsure:

    Glad it worked out.

Seemed ridiculous to an old fart like me too. Told my oldest at 25, his 70k super car is about worthless. He looked confused. Sad day lol
