My dealer called and said they had a 2020 Army green Trd Pro. They said they would make me a helluva deal if I came in tomorrow. MSRP shows $57k. What in yall's opinion would be a great deal?

    Thanks

    Eric

Would help a lot if there incentives attached to the pro, but there are none.

My dealer has a white one on the lot, I am in need of some retail therapy badly but after looking over the numbers I cant do it. I have 0% on the tundra I have now, there is no such thing for a pro. Sadly.

I've been shopping in the last two weeks. When they say $57K or whatever, they then tack on another $3K in maintenance or warranty cost plus anything else they can think of...another cost is the infamous "doc" fee. Always a fun one, that one! Then they want Privacy Act informatioin, such as birthdate and social. The hits, they keep coming.
I got mine for $50,400 out the door but it had a 1000 miles on it.

Last January I finally found the Super White Tundra TRD Pro that I had been looking for. I was driving a 2015 Tacoma TRD OR that was paid for. After test driving the PRO and striking a deal on the numbers for my Tacoma, I wrote them a check for the balance. Easiest way to finance a new truck, 100% Down, No Payments. I realize not everyone can do that, but I highly recommend it if at all possible.

Doc fees in most states are capped. I. Tx I believe it is $165. That does not mean they can't add dealer fees. I refuse to pay anything above TTL.

I agree. There are a few here on the forum that got a killer deal (or claim to have gotten) on a Pro, but it's not the norm. Market conditions rule. I was happy with my deal last October since they gave me way too much for my trade.

What does the Pro have that a typical 4x4 Tundra does not, I know it has TRD Dual Exhaust. Is the suspension that much better that it commands such a premium? I just signed on my 2020 4x4 Limited .....little over 6k off sticker before TTL. $6164.00 to be exact. This included the $3k rebate. I think I could have gotten a bit more if I would have pressed it.

My dealer and a few others gave up calling me after I never satisfy their offers, a paid off truck is way better than anything on their lot. Don’t be fooled, keep your truck.

I don't care if they want to charge me a tiddlywink fee as long as my OTD price is what I want. There were four charges on my final paperwork that I was not happy with, but I was happy with the bottom line, so I ended up not caring about those charges.

    • Tint and paint protection - $896.00
    • Apex & Road Vantage - $998.00
    • Doc fee - $150
    • Non Tax Fees - $176 (I don't even know what the hell that is)
$2,220 in fees and charges I would normally not authorize, want, or be happy with. But here was the bottom line:

    • MSRP - $40,656
    • Rebate - ($3,000)
    • Tax - $2,541
    • Total price with tax, less rebate, but no add ons/added fees - $40,197
    • What I negotiated? OTD - $35,500
Am I ok with those bogus charges considering the net cost to me? Of course I am!

For a pro a great deal is 1-2k off of MSRP. Bought my 19 a year ago next week. MSRP 52k, got for 48.5k. but the 2020s where hitting the lot and they wanted to make room.

In my opinion....they aren’t going to give you a deal and all these dealers are going to get stuck with leftovers because of Covid. I’d bet if you wait a month or 2 when the 2021 model comes out these dealers will be begging to sell the leftover 2020s that they are getting jammed up with at the end of the year

it was going to be $38,000+. He asked what it would take. I said $35,500 out the door (essentially erasing those fees). Like I said, they can write whatever they want on the paper as long as I know the value. I can tell you with 90% certainty that I paid less for that truck (SR5 SX pkg DC) than anyone in the last 3+ months at that dealership and likely less than almost everyone in this area.

Bought my 2020 Pro March 19, right as everything was shutting down due to COVID. Car dealers seemed to be in a panic due to uncertainty. My truck was bought on a Thursday and was only the 3rd vehicle sold that week. $56k sticker. $49,500 OTD.

Same truck 2 weeks before at another aggressive dealer was $56k OTD.

There is obviously not a big inventory on the 2020's, but the 2021's are now flowing in to dealers, so MSRP on the 2020's will hold no longer...

I'm waiting until late Nov or so when there's plenty of stock, then walk down the mountain and nab my Lunar Pro :bored:

Really depends on what type of person you are at the end of the day. If you're ok with doing all work yourself then you can build a "pro" for less, if you can let go of some small things.

The Pro when I got mine was 49k, I could have gotten a Crewmax Platinum for 42k that day or a base Crewmax for 39k. So a 10k markup over the base with discounts on the base model.

I would have given up the sun roof, leather, exhaust, suspension, hood scoop and all paint matched bumper pieces, wheels, skid plate, fog lights. When you add all the options up without labor it's a lot of cash.

Basically the Pro essentially is a modded from the factory option where you dont do any work and dont pay for the labor to put those parts on. So, to make a pro yourself you would have to do the work yourself or it would cost more in the end. Potentially a lot more.

Just a rundown of what the estimated cost for the parts without labor:

    Suspension: 2700
    Wheels: 1800
    Scoop: 700 (unpainted)
Bumper pieces and grille (painted): 1500-2000
Bedsides (with Pro Logo): 600 per side (unpainted)
Sun Roof: 1500 (with labor, aftermarket, not recommended)
    Skid: 350
    Fog lights: 650
Exhaust: 800 (cant recall exactly, but parts from mine on the estimate from being hit were just over 800)

So even if you leave out the stuff like bed sides your still at $8500 without the sun roof or 10k with it. Basically add that to the base and the price matches the pro. Thats without painting the hood scoop, installing leather yourself, suspension yourself, you get the point.

The Pro isnt for everyone, sure, but if you want a built and warrantied off roader then its really hard to beat. Plus, as I just learned their pretty much worth their weight in gold on the used market right now.

The MSRP was 58k not 57k. They had Nitto terra grapplers on them.
