Very disappointed. Had Toyota's all my life, and they were all amazing. My previous Toyota, FJ Cruiser served for 11 years without any issues EVER. This one, two months of the dealer lot, and $40K later, already leaking oil.
If I wanted such experience, I would go with a ford! I cannot believe my Tundra is having those issues. Brand new car. Wow.
Will bring it to a dealer tomorrow for exam. Already called corporate and opened a case with them. Will see what happens, but this should not be happening to a brand new truck.

I would be pissed also but the world isn’t perfect. Let them take a look and see what’s wrong and go from there.

Considering about 100,000 Tundras are sold every year, the odds of each being 100% perfect is pretty up there.
I'm sure the dealer will take care of you!

Not sure what part of the engine is that. Here is another pic that may show a better perspective.

Huh...finally figured it out. Looks like the oil filter bracket to me. Attaches to the front of the engine with two o-ring seals. One or both of those probably leaking, or the oil filter housing leaking...should be an easy fix. That black housing on the bottom is the OEM plastic oil filter housing we all replace at first opportunity.

Ready for a free oil change?

Yeah you are right .. you should have purchased a Ford. You will have much better experiences with them. :anonymous:

JK. Like everyone says, the number of vehicles produced against the number that are lemons are slim but unfortunately, it happens. It probably is a very logical explanation and simple fix.

Front of the engine, looking from underneath, in front of the tire on the passenger side.

@JohnLakeman says it looks like the oil filter bracket on the front of the engine.

See Item 15. Item 16 is the filter housing and the filter assembly. Item 15, oil filter bracket, attaches to the engine up above that little vacuum actuator, behind that gray conduit with two bolts, two nuts, and two o-rings that seal the engine oil passages into that oil filter bracket. If that oil filter bracket (called "housing" in the parts list) is loose, those o-rings will leak down the lower front of the engine and oil will show up where the green arrow is pointing. They'll find the leak wherever it is...minor disassembly required.

Yes, well, the green arrow is pointed to the bottom of the front timing cover split line where timing cover bolts to the engine...the leak could be from that joint. However, I believe the oil leak is actually higher up, and the oil is leaking down the front of the timing cover and has blown back and collected at the bottom. There is also oil running down the oil filter bracket from above the filter housing and off the plastic filter housing, indicating a leak source directly above.

Hopefully, they will find the true leak, and not jump to the premature conclusion that the filter housing o-ring is the sole source. The filter o-ring could be leaking, but I think that oil film is from the leak running down. The OP should insist that they look at the oil filter bracket attachment joint...oil will blow back, but they'll be dumb to think it will blow up from the filter and then back to the timing cover.

Could it be leaking from the oil cooler? Mine was leaking from that,

Just got my Tundra back from the dealership. Apparently, leak on oil pressure sending unit. They replaced oil pressure switch and oil pressure sending unit. We'll see how it goes. I am relieved it's not something big. Thank you guys for all of your input.

Glad they found it. Leaks are one thing with rattle... hate them both.

Any update if problem was solved. I have a 2020 with less than 2,000 miles and have a small leak at the exact same place.

When I purchased my truck in 2015 I drove from the dealership home, the next morning I had a spot the size of a quarter on my driveway. The rear main seal was leaking. I took my brand new truck back to the dealer and they pulled the transmission and found that one of the dowels that positions the rear main seal cover was not seated in the block. They had to tap it in and then replaced the rear main seal with a new one. It has not leaked since. It happens, take it in, if you have a good dealer with a good tech, they will fix it.

I wouldn’t worry. It will get fixed. When i bought my old 4.6 truck, it had a defective camshaft and toyota corporate flew out to help take it apart and figure out what went wrong. They got it all put back together good as new.

Hey. Everyone needs to remove cover under your engine and look for this leak. I had a mechanic tell me they are seeing on all they inspect. Mine is leaking. I am told not sure where the leak is coming from.
