So I know a good about of people have installed the fox 2.5 coilovers and ended up with a three inch lift out of the box. Now you can usually have enough room in the preload collars to lower it about a half inch.

Has anyone installed a 16" coilover spring to get back into the 0-3 inch adjustability range?

    Factory is a 17" spring.

It really depends on the trucks weight and where it sits with the coilovers installed. Although you may only see about 2" of threads showing on the coilover shock body, with the motion ratio, thats a lot of adjustment. If you are not wanting a tall lift, you may want to consider the 0-2" lift coilovers.

That's the problem, there is zero threads left, I can not take out any more preload...

Not Fox...but I experienced this same situation with Radflo coilovers. They came adjusted all the way down and I installed them that way, and have never touched them in a year. I'm still sitting at about 3.25" of lift vs. stock measurements. The only suggestions I've received for lowering them is adding weight in the front, like a bumper and winch.

Yeah I already used it as an excuse to buy a bumper, winch, air compressor...

Maybe I need a dual battery too

Got it, wasn't sure if they were installed already. Yes, you could swap on a 16" spring to get the truck lower.

I'm thinking of trying the 16" at 700 lbs

I really need to drop the nose about an inch to inch and a half.

I just don't want to run into coil bind, or other issues.

Kinda funny how a 0-3 inch lift give you 3 inches with no room to lower... I knew they come in high for the Tundras but wish we had a tad more room for adjustment.

Would it be better to drop to a 650lb spring?

Fox said suggested to TRY a shorter spring. Only issue is swapping springs is not a quick easy task....

And, personally, when I was shopping for coilovers - they were so arrogant over the phone with me that I decided not to give them my business anymore.

    They advertise 0 to 3".

    You cant get to 0".

Shouldn't be your problem to fix...IMHO.

Before throwing $ at it jack up the passenger side till tire lifts and see if the coil is free/loose. I’ve run all the Fox coilovers, all the same with ride height, and had to have a few threads showing or coil was free. If that is the case don’t believe 16” 700# springs will help because you will drop the collar the 1” difference to prevent coil being free at droop. If that makes any sense.

A 16" or 17" spring is too long to have negative preload on that coilover shock. At full extension with no threads showing, there is about 15.55" of space to fit a spring.

Don’t know what Fox sent me then, even the non resis had to have a few turns or free. :notsure: Why use a 17” coil on a 15.5” opening? 1 1/2” preload before any adjustability?

That's kinda funny because if you have 1.5" of preload from what I've heard that's just shy of a 3" lift for the tundra. That would make sense why they come from the factory at 3"l with zero threads showing.. but that's just off what I've heard, not experience.

You don’t have 1.5” preload. Feel free to pm me, don’t care to discuss any further here, have helped a few members sort it out lol.
