Hi guys i just installed dc3 compustar with tl5 harness. I have a little bit of a problem. When i try to start truck using factory fob, its cranks but stays cranking. Someone has had this problembefore. Not a pro installer. Any help is good. Maybe I programmed it wrong. Thanks

I’m not familiar with this unit, but installed a number of aftermarket remote start alarms in the past. It’s been a while, but it sounds like it’s not getting a good read from the tachometer wire to indicate the engine has started.

Sounds to me like your truck is not receiving the chip key bypass information. when you put a key that hasnt had the chip programmed in your ignition and try to start it this is what happens. it will crank and crank but never start. you probably missed a step that programs your chip code into the bypass.

I've installed two of these, you need to program the tach sensor. There are two ways to do this, depending on if you are using an oem keyfob or an aftermarket key fob. Instructions should be in your manual. If you're using oem Here's the instructionsScreen Shot 2019-11-13 at 8.37.06 AM.jpg

That programming procedure above should program the tach sensor for you. Other checks would be to check all the plugs in the ecu and the obd and wires to make sure they're good. If the lights don't flash exactly as it says in the guide, it didn't take.

I was using oem key fob but bought a two way remote because the remote won't unlock while the starter is engaged. Have to use aftermarket remote or the key. Kind of silly. Easy add on with 3000' of range. Also put a drone mobile on and security add kit.

Tried to program everything even tachometer again and it cranks the it cranks again engine on then it turns off and the right turn signal turns on. Ive tried it over and over again. Im gonna have to take it to a tech to get it done.

Did you do the TPMS connection? I skipped it because I don't plan on using the OEM key to remote start.

Double check your wiring. This is the same RS I put on my truck. Even with the TL5 harness there are some manual connections necessary.

I’m the one who had this problem. But it was caused by the alpine maestro harness and the compustar harness fighting for data basically. Installer called compustar and they had to adjust the connection somehow.

Can you try this? Put a key in the ignition, leave in off position. Then try remote start.

If you want I can give you the phone number to the shop that fixed mine. They were on the phone with compustar for a good amount of time fixing it.

What i noticed of tl5 it does not have a tachometer wire conmection and in other remote start kits almost all of them have the tach wire conmection.

I'm thinking it gets tach via data (OBD2).

Joehinojosa15, did you ever figure out why your Compustar remote starter did not start? I have the same issue after enabling the alarm features on the Compustar DC3. Now it will only cranks but no start. It was working perfectly until I enable the alarm feature. After resetting the module, it does not want to program to my tundra. DC3 module flash code SIL data not connected but tested the connection being good. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello all! Have a 19 SR5 TRD Sport. The wiring diagram is a little vague on whether to make the TPMS connection or not if you are using OEM vs aftermarket RF remote... seems like I may have to make the connection in the drivers side kick panel.. if I do this will I retain oem fob functionality as well as aftermarket fob? I want to use aftermarket for the increased range, but don’t mind if they both work... advice? @Rockgate

Connect tpms if you want both to work. Don't connect if you only using aftermarket remotes.

Thanks! So, I’m still having trouble... I flash it and get out there to program it to the truck and all I get is red flashes when I hit the program button... do I need to connect the hood switch sensor? It’s the only thing I haven’t made a connection with. But as for any of the programming... or reprogramming instructions I find, none of it works... I am missing something here. This has been going on for days fml. I wish I would’ve bought the start x or the tech 12 volts...:ballchain:

Did you hard wired the RDA, CANL, and CANH wires? Those are the three wires you have to splice. Rest is plug n play. This is for 2020 model. I assumed 2019 is the same.
