The tires rub here when making turns up-and-down driveways bumps etc. Any way to work this out so I don't have an issue if I am doing 40mph down a dirt road and hit some large bumps...04EC0E46-C417-43ED-AC09-88D7BD504D51.jpgAB2E9E70-B5F7-40E2-90FD-7A788D39D2C3.jpg

What size tires and what rims do you have? What size lift? I had the same problem but I fixed it with new rims

Pull the plastic back, you'll see the pinch weld where the two body panels meet. Get a big hammer and hammer them inward towards the motor. Like folding the corner of a page in a book. Then put the plastic back and don't worry if the plastic rubs.

I cut mine out and wish I just did the hammer method, it leaves more strength and looks cleaner.

I would just add on to this by saying you can use a heat gun and heat up the plastic and then push it inward so it forms to the new shape and you shouldn't rub the plastic anymore. Also, depending on where you live, adding some seam sealer or some rubberized undercoating over the metal you just folded will help keep it from rusting or holding any water.

You’d do well on the semi-pro hand model circuit. I’d suggest a knuckle hair trim and maybe some blonding highlights in a Level 4 Lightener.

@robabeatle this is exactly where mine was rubbing when we were out in the desert, I knew a pinch weld could be beaten in, just wasn’t sure where; untill now.

@fighthedude and @FrenchToasty here is what you gotta do.

Fender liners have little plastic rivets that will probably break when you pop them out. They're replaceable, thats okay.

Drill a hole where the bolt is in my pic. Then use a saw to cut an incision to meet that hole (red arrow). The reason you drill a hole before cutting it it will be less likely to continue splitting.

Then bang that shit inward until the tab touches the body.

I think I’m picking up what your throwing down. Is that bolt in your pic on our truck or you just have a bolt there now?
Your drilling the hole to provide a relief for the crack right? When I’d watch them repair counter tops, they would drill a hole a the very end of the crack so the crack didn’t have anywhere to go/a relief of the pressure, then they would fill it in and sand and polish.

is the pinch weld tab as big as you illustrate it?

Yes, yes, and yes. I put 2 bolts into mine (upper and lower visible here) to hopefully restore some strength because I chopped it off. I've seen it done better and wish I went this route with the single incision and fold back the rest. Folding it back this way won't lose the grip where the metal is joined and drilling the hole keeps it from splitting more.

Yup, the metal sticks out as far as that blue line.

Here is another angle to show about how high up to droll the hole. I would maybe go a touch higher even, just under where that gray panel starts. When you bend the tab back it will almost touch the body mount that is nearby.
