Finally! I got some time out of quarantine and into the hills. I was invited by a buddy on a 4 day 4x4 trip into the Rio Grand and Uncompahgre National Forests. Lots of highlights: Wheeler Geologic Area, Cinnamon Pass, California Pass, Engineer Pass, Ouray, Orvis Hot Springs... I dropped some pics below of the travels. My truck really performed well, minus the few three point turns on switchbacks. I get a few questions from the hoard of Jeep drivers out there about how my Tundra was handling the terrain. Really?

Last week we dropped out youngest off at Colorado State University and then met family at an RV park for a few days just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. I rented a 30' camper that towed great. I'm still likely not in the market to buy a camper even now that we are nearly completely empty nesters.

My Toyo Open Country ATs are about 70% spent and I was pondering the prospect of trying something cheaper when I replace them. I have s standing quote from Les Schwab for about $1,850 to replace all four. After this trip I'm unlikely to switch based on well them performed. I sure would like to find a hot discount on those skins though before I pulled the trigger!

Great pics. Looks like a fun trip. I'm completely jealous of the open space to explore in your area. I started researching a road trip over I-70 a few years ago and kept getting distracted with all the amazing places and sights. Before I knew it, my solo weekend road trip turned into a two+ week excursion with the family. Was a great trip, but not enough dirt roads. Need to get back some day to really explore the region.

I haven't spent a ton of time in Washington state - my father lives NW of Spokane so the eastern end of the state is most familiar to me. But, lots of great open areas in the northwest!

Yeah, if I was in that area it would be much easier to access. I'm near Seattle, so it's 2-3 hrs to get anywhere.
