    Function before sparkle.
What are you trying to accomplish with Techstream? There are other options for some use cases.

Does anyone know if you download it from Toyota's site how long it will work for? Since you are only paying for a short period of time does it stop working once your subscription is up?

I found this thread after dealing with alcohol/fuel density problems on my 2013 FFV. Does anyone know if the calibration can be reset with techstream?

Also, I have a 2013 MacBook pro that i will have to run this program with. I understand that i will have to install some type of windows OS, but Im not to clever when it comes to working on computers.

I can repair a jet engine but I'm pretty dense when it comes to computer work!

Based on the info in the previous post, just download the mac os virtualbox link. Thats a program which lets you run a virtual machine. “Computer within a computer”. Select the techstream image file and boot it. It sounds like the techstream image boots its own self contained operating system.

Ok I'll give it a try. I wasn't sure what was meant by virtual machine. Ive been reading through many posts about installing tech stream on a Mac to begin to understand the basics of what all is entailed so i don't wreck my computer!

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't had much luck in the past with computer installations!

The link posted above mentions one option for an OBDII interface, but the link is invalid so Im not sure on what specs i need to look for in another comparable interface.

Just use bootcamp. It takes like 5 minutes to setup.

the link I posted in post 2, has step by step instructions to setup techstream.

Dumb question. Is this the bootcamp assistant already installed on my MacBook?

If so, Im not clear if my 2013 MacBook pro meets the memory requirements. I have 44gb available out of 122gb. I recently uploaded everything on my MacBook to the cloud to free up space but "other" category listed under storage is still says its using 30gb. I have no music, pics or videos on my MacBook and only about 3gb of documents. It's virtually empty except for 6gb also used for apps.

Yeah it’s already there “bootcamp assistant”. I believe it’s in utilities, I usually just use spotlight to find stuff

depending on what version of macOS you are running, there is a cleanup button that can tell you what the “other” is. Sometimes there’s previous upgrade files left behind or other old downloads buried somewhere.

@J.A.T.O. Sorry bud.. i have not been following this thread.. Virtual machine is a software that runs on your mac or Win. Once you install the virtual machine (VM) you can then open the image you download on the VM. It will boot up like a windows 95 machine.

In terms of the OBD2 interface the - the link posted by @TemujinNomad - Mini VCI Diagnostic Tool Cable Scanner for Toyota Lexus TIS Techstream V13.00.22 cable should work. Although I got one similar to it for $16.

I just got my techstream up and running using the Ih8hud post. The cable I got was like $22 on Amazon. Its firmware 1.4.3 I used it to program a remote, haven't had working remotes since I bought the truck. Also checked my tpms since my light has been on, one of my sensors is dead it looks like. I'll have to narrow down which one it is. I hooked it up to my brothers scion to check a few things and realized it won't show live data. Does just about everything else. I either need a newer firmware cable or a different version of techstream, my research has not found any definitive answers. Seems some peoples work and some don't. I'm going to hook it up to my LS430 tomorrow and see what kind of functionality I get with it.

@myktundra so reading live data it depends on your car year, techstream version and the cable version it seem. A few people have said they cannot read newer cars 2014+ livestream data without v2.x of the cable. Also some have said they may need newer versions of techstream as well. Obviously b/c this software has to run on ALL Toyota's well I am sure they keep on updating it while making sure it does not break on the older Toyo's.

I would go back to ih8mud account and read up on there for help in finding clues. - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-techstream-in-5-minutes.1034923/

Yeah I need to dive a bit deeper, I'm glad I got it to work for what I needed (fobs) and other customization stuff. MY Tundra is a 2011, the Scion is a 2008 and my Lexus is a 2002. I tried to use live data to see some engine and transmission stuff on the Scion but it wouldn't work. I will have to do so more sifting through the stuff over there.
