Finally got around to giving it a proper detail after 6 months and 8000 miles of ownership.

Yesterday I finally had a day that I could spend on the truck. Oddly enough, since the Covid crap started, I've been extremely busy, and any time off was spent with the family, or dealing with other more pressing stuff around the house. Well, the stars finally aligned and I found a rare day where the weather was cooperative, wife was at work, kids were at school, and I had nothing to do but put the shine on........

    1. Soaked the engine bay with undiluted Simple Green, let it dwell for about 5 minutes and hosed it off.
    2. Dryer sheet bug removal from the front.
    3. Poor Man's Decon wash using Dawn soap.
    4. Carpro Iron X
    5. NanoSkin synthetic clay mitt. (I used Optimum No Rinse diluted way down into a quick detailer spray for the lube).
    6. Sealed it up with Carpro Reload.
    7. Wiped down the tonneau with Aerospace 303.

I usually follow up with bedmaker after a wash, but wasn't sure if the Reload needed to cure for a while, so I just passed on it this time.

All in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. There are some water spots etched into the paint, so at some point I'll have to do a correction on it, but it looks great right now. Fortunately, being silver, you have to look really hard to see the blemishes.....

As a former auto appraiser, I can confirm that silver and white are the best colors for hiding blemishes. Your truck looks amazing. I look forward to spending some time detailing my new ride this Sunday prior to our fantasy football draft.

    Looks clean.

I would not use dish detergent for washing the truck.

As a regular guy, I can confirm that voodoo blue is NOT a good color for hiding blemishes. LOL (It's OK though - still looks sweet.)

Yeah, I typically wouldn’t, but it’s what I had on hand that had some stripping qualities to it.

And there are schools of thought that would say Dawn is fine as a Decon soap....

    I typically only use Maguire’s or Griot’s.

There's nothing wrong with using Dawn for a strip wash....actually, it's better than Adams Strip Wash or Chemical Guys Clean Slate. A better option for a strip wash is Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash.
