I took out my Taco Tunes stereo and with some help upgraded to a RF DSR-1, Zapco ST- 1650 XM II for bass, Zapco ST-6SQ for active two way up front and rear fill in the back. I went with JL C7 tweeters in the sail panels, C5 6.5” for mid bass, and C2 for rearfill. We had to mod the rear seat bracket for cubby and seat moved forward. For the bass I have three JL TW3 12” subwoofers in a sealed box. I want to upgrade the processor in the future to either an Audiocontrol DM-810 or Zapco DSP-Z8. Any thoughts? I wonder what Accubase would do for factory roll off? I included some of my build pics thus far but, more to come. Still have to do cooling fans, plexiglass, and maybe an LED for rear floor lighting.

I agree maybe there is a soon to be a drop in that allows use of factory backup camera and steering wheel controls.

Seriously, great work! I have yet to dig into my Tundra's audio and I'm dreading it. I bought a behind the rear seat sub box a couple months ago thinking I'd want to tackle it this summer but I have zero interest. Living vicariously through your work .

What was the sound improvement like going from the taco recurve setup to the DSP'd Zapco setup? I'd think that had to be pretty much night and day improvement. Bigger improvement from stock to TT, or TT to current?

On the Audiocontrol vs. Zapco, I honestly have never used either but I do know Audiocontrol and Mosconi are brands my tuner basically refuses to touch. His main issues are with the software, particularly on the audiocontrol. I've seen a few comments from other people complaining about the audiocontrol software not saving properly, reverting settings back to factory for no reason, and other small issues. I have not seen any such complaints about Zapco. I know Helix is the gold standard for DSPs but man if their prices don't reflect it.

No it’s not night and day I have the RF-DSR1 and I’m going to try to dial it in more. I’m giving all my speakers time for break in. My subs slam so much I’m actually wanting to put a toggle switch on the bass amp. Even with the gain at 1/4 and bass knob all the way down they are still moving. It’s hard to get good sound out of the Entune and I have a lot more work to do on gains, oscilloscope, and tunning. Just want to know if the AudioControl corrects factory roll off better.

i'm not running an audiocontrol but have left the stock entune HU. it goes through a jbl FiX86 and a TwK88. i'd rather keep the dash clean and not advertise what's in the truck.

nice work on that sub box. impressed you got 3 12s in there.

absolutely. you need to put the time in to calibrate the fix and tune the twk but it sounds amazing.

Just something that has no roll offs to correct. Like a drop in Alpine that you couldn’t tell was aftermarket unless you knew by looking at it. Yeah with a good HU it would make a tweaking a processor easier. I’ve seen other brands like Ford and GM that have aftermarket interfaces to do line level correction. That way it’s an equal signal going into the DSP. So I now have to decide AudioControl or maybe the Fix86 and Twk88. That or Fix86 and Zapco DSP-Z8.

I gotcha. Yeah that’s the same boat I’m in. I’m super leary of trying to get a good signal out of the factory head unit. But all the aftermarket stuff looks aftermarket. Except the Tesla stuff. But then you have to mess with the whole unsupported radio thing. I’m curious to see the new floating screen kenwood when they supposedly come out in September. I have had everything sitting around waiting on a head unit for so long it isn’t funny.

So I was going to go with another processor and I was like I’m tired of playing with the Entune. I ordered a Kenwood DDX8706, micro bypass module, the maestro rr, and all the parts to get it installed. Will be working on it this weekend.

Sweet! I have to figure out how to get my HU intro the Metra kit. I think I might have to trim.

I wish I could use the trim ring but, there is a small gap at the bottom no one will notice but, I think I’m going to make a small piece out of ABS plastic to hide it.
